I keep reading posts claiming that Kelly was lazy. What makes people say that? Was he truly lazy or is it just one of those things that someone said and the crowd picked up on? I really do not know. Can someone provide specific examples? Thanks in advance.

Everytime he went to the podium after practices or for any reason for that matter, he almost always seemed so well-manicured and put together. Not a single hair was out of place. He didn't appear to be a coach who was in the thick of things with his team and assistants.

His teams seemed to be very unprepared. Dropping balls, unforced errors, calling timeout to avoid delay of game penalties, poor scouting, etc.

He was 65 and checked out.

I also think he thought if Ed O could do it, he could easily do it with minimal effort. Hes a pompous a-hole

14 years older than Kiff, he lost a lot of juice. He also couldn't handle the juice down here and the women. Kiff is accustomed to it.

B/C he knew at some point he would get fired and get the massive buyout.

There were stories coming out that he just didn’t recruit

like coaches would come up to him with recruits in the phone and ask him to talk to the player and he would say “make an appointment”

He definitely didn’t seem plugged in on a player level and at times in the sideline he looked really surprised at what was happening like he didn’t have a headset

I think that was deep down just who he was but maybe got slightly worse with age and an already massive bank account.

I remember ND fans saying he was a lazy recruiter.

I also think he severely underestimated how much work it takes to be successful in the SEC.

Instead of recruiting and game planning on the off week, he would rather play golf. Coaches would try to get him to talk to a recruit and he would tell them to make an appointment. Didn't even bother to learn players name. shite like that.

Saben lived in the office. Even after winning a natty, would make coaches come in the next day at 7:30 for meetings. He wasn't the best for nothing. Kelly liked to blame everyone else except him. Sabens practices were so hard that when it became game time, the game were easy. Was often mentioned when he was at LSU.

Pot belly development and golfing and making lack lustered hires by promoting ZERO experience guys as coordinators and showing no sense of urgency to go get big dudes at the trenches and the list goes on...

Had it not been for JD5 in 2023 that record would be different. We missed a big chance to make noise that year.

arse, Grass (golf course), and Glass (full of his drink of choice). Multiple players have come out and stated that BK rarely if ever communicated with them.

$$$$$
Woodward should have stopped when he was rebuffed the first time

He was inaccessible to coaches, staff and players
He played a lot of golf
He made vacation trips to Michigan
He showed up to games right on time
Drinking
Cheating on wife

He had definitely checked out based on all these warning flags

Here’s what I think. He wanted out. So he stop caring. He wanted to get fired. This season is because he didn’t care anymore. He knew he didn’t want to quit with all that money on the line.

Um, how about his assistants complaining he didn't do enough prep for them come game time so it was harder to adjust to game situations? Or how about recruits saying he ignored them and didn't even know their name because he was a lazy arse recruiter? Do you really need more examples because there's plenty of them. How about trust you eyes in games did that not speak lazy by itself with the product on the field?

quote:

Was he truly lazy

Lazy or entitled thinking he was above having to grind with everyone else and have the attention to detail that was needed. He delegated a lot of responsibility then took none for himself for not managing his employees properly. The message seems to be he was not around the building and team as much as is needed at this level

Dude played us for his retirement. AD needs to pay at least a little for falling for this. We had such a soft team on the lines, its been years since I've seen us have first and goal and actually thought we were going to be able to run the ball in---that is a crime!!
