My problem is the salary they offered was too low. My offer was between 60K and 70K - and they want me to start on a salary of 40K. It’s a full time job within their research and library center. What would you guys do?

40k... in today's economy?

It had better come with a place to live, per diem, company car, and more to make that work.

Do you really want the job and can you actually live on that amount?

If so, then go have fun.

You’ll get crushed with taxes in that part of the country too. Don’t bother.

If you were truly elected, and turned it down, you’d be the first on record to do so..

I don't really know much about it

I do know that Velvet Underground drummer Maureen Tucker called it the "Hall of Lame". Does that qualify as a rejection?

If you can afford to live on that (dual income/low no debt/kids) and this is a job you’ve wanted to do then do it.

If you are going to have to struggle to live it probably wouldn’t be wise to take it.

What are the medical benefits?

401K and match? Or is it a pension?

How many off days per year?

How much Pto was offered?

Health benefits and 401K match. It is a low cost of living area. I would have to live in Utica or Syracuse to make it work. They’ve given me a week to make a decision.

Spouse - no kids.

A baseball researcher?

I'm surprised they offered you 40k. AI can do your job for free.

I remember interviewing with the Saints/Pelicans selling suites. I thought it would be amazing. $40K salary. Pfft.

40k with New York taxes and COL is terrible. Below the poverty line.
