Pro-Drive

If you can get in, you can get out. Full power reverse is unmatched

Do the new 50 HP have full power reverse?

We have an old school 35 Mud Buddy. No Reverse- just simple.

I like that it has a Mercury trim tilt unit on it- very nicely done, we can go anywhere we want with it.

It’s more about the boat than the motor. All of said motors are very good.

Prodrive, full power reverse, which comes in handy when your buddies with gatortails get stuck in a patch of hyacinths.

My preference for what I do is Gator Tail, but now that the Pro Drive has instant reverse and the 50 is out, it would be a tougher decision if I had to do it over again.

My recommendation is to focus on whoever is closer to you for warranty work. But pro drive is the best if you want to spend a lot of time in thick mud.

Depends on your location and what you're running in, too.

Around our parts prodrive is down the list and has more trouble because of the hard ground and flooded green timber we run in. That detriment is precisely what makes it so bad arse in thick mud though.

Prodrive is not gonna be the fastest or lightest, but in my opinion it has the least arm fatigue and no belt is great. Like others have said, the reverse is great.

I'm a Gatortail fan. Instant reverse is more important that full power reverse. They are very innovative and always improving their equipment.

Go Devil is the most simplistic though. Straight drive, very easy to work on.

Why do you say that? Flat bottom is a flat bottom?

I have a 18x54 center console Gatortail. Been having it for over 8 years. Got it when the 37xd came out and has been a great engine and rig. Very reliable. It’s also easy for my kids to run also.

Poo drives are loud, heavy and slow. Several guys in our duck club have them and I pass them up every time we all hunt togther. I would like to know how solid that actuator is that hangings off the front now for the instant reverse.

Pro drive for thick vegetation and cypress lakes. Gator tail for straight mud and carrying more weight. Go devil does everything the gator tail does and I think is more reliable. If it’s a Briggs they are junk just know that going into it.
