I had no intention to listen to this, but then you post they make this comparison. They are just throwing names out now to sound cool

Ben was a great QB, but his game is not the same as Shough.

The way that Tyler slides up and outside the pocket to create a pseudo run / pass option definitely reminds me of a young Roethlisberger.

Tyler will likely not shake off a ton of linebackers and DBs the way Ben did, but the outcome is similar.

We’re bitching about the number 40 overall pick turning into Big Ben? I’d kill for that kind of production and success.

Tyler has nowhere near the same stature as Ben enough.

I didn't listen to it either but shough is nothing like Roethlisberger play wise.

Surely not me, and surely you listened to the podcast because it wasnt exactly a glowing endorsement lol.

"Hes kind of a qb that just exists, he doesnt do a lot that really excites me, but hes not that offensive"

He praised a few things he did well like his work outside of the pocket, good go balls thrown, but then he says "Im not going into the offseason locked in saying hes our starter, I was worried it was going to look pretty rough but its been mildly better than I've been anticipating"

Literally no glowing endorsement of his play from them.

Exactly. They think because he's not the same size as ben, that he doesn't have the same type of game or pocket movement.
Then someone else saying that linebackers not being able to tackle Ben was Ben's game. No, that was his size.

Yall are so off base. There are nuances to pocket presence and mobility, and different QBs do it in different ways. Ben was great in the pocket, but if you watch his movements within and compare it to Shough, they are different players. Shough maneuvers around the pocket like it's a maze. He is very unique in how he does it, and I have been comparing it to Steve Young. Young moved in very similar ways. Ben was different, and yes his size was a major factor in how he manipulated the pocket. Marino was also a master at the pocket, but his was due to his subtle foot maneuvering and uncanny feel of pressure. He would just move his feet slightly, look as if he barely moved is body, and somehow the defender would miss him.

But yeah, I don't remember Ben when he was young. I've been a lifelong Steelers fan, and my passion for them is only surpassed by my passion for the Saints. But nope, I don't remember Ben

You’re right. Also sounded like they haven’t watched his games because they talked about his early starts being disasters (his 2nd start was arguably the best game of a rookie qb this year).
