What do you find most annoying about working in a cubicle environment?

The off chance you need to bring in lunch from the outside, and everyone just loves to get all up in your business while you're eating.

"Ohh... what you got there?"

I cannot stand that shite.

You should probably get away from your cube during your lunch anyway, even if it's just going eat in a breakroom or your car even.

If I'm bringing food in it's because I want to be on TD while I eat.

we went to an open office plan years ago (before covid sent us all home) and my biggest gripe then was i was always on teams meetings and it was super distracting to try & take calls from my desk with people walking around and talking to each other constantly around my desk.

I have an office and a cubicle. I spend most of the time in the cubicle for the social interaction. I only use the office for ripping huge farts.

I don't work in a cubicle, but my company rents out a private office in a coworking type building that I come to 3 days a week, so I still see people when I go into the shared spaces like the kitchen or lobby.

I'm totally with you that comments on my food make me annoyed. Lately I've just been bringing shelf stable snacks or cold food that I can eat without needing to go into the kitchen.

Before covid/WFH, my boss told our department to get in at 9 and leave at 5 every day. Some other departments would get in at 8, and started bitching around when they saw us rolling in at 8:55. So we were asked to adjust and come in earlier.

To do what, the same three hours worth of actual daily work?

Coworker, who can see my headphones on and a Zoom meeting on the monitor, "hey are you on a call?"

I work in my own office but for some reason everyone sees me carrying food into my office as OH BROHEM IS FREE...LET ME GO GRAB HIM...

I've literally started locking the door behind me and ignoring knocks until I've had a chance to eat and chill

In my younger years, I was that guy that would play rec sports and go to the gym on a daily basis. As a result, I could eat pretty much anything I wanted and not have to worry about "putting on the weight". Would have to hear about it for damn near the entire 20-30 minutes I would be in the kitchen heating up my lunch and eating from all of the people that "can't lose a pound and all I eat are salads". That and how much dressing, condiments others put on their food made me "eat out" every day. Which I would then hear about that, but it wouldn't last as long.

My biggest annoyance was the number of prairie dogs that needed to watch everything I did so they can run to the boss if you were not "being productive" every minute of the day.

Glad those days are long gone.

It's really annoying. I get that they are being friendly, but leave me alone.

I've got a 24*30 work space all to myself with a lock on the door. You guys are peasants.

I call it a work space because it's not an office. It's server room with 3 racks full in sound proof cabinets. The "security threat" means people can't use the other desktop work spaces.

But it's really nice to have an area all to myself.
