Most of y’all are being delusional. Kiffin is not going to be LSU’s version of Saban. He hasn’t suddenly transformed since his Tennessee days, he’s still the same guy. He’s brilliant, but he’s also selfish, unpredictable, and hard to pin down. And let’s be honest; LSU’s fan base is the same way. So sure, the match works right now, but let’s not act like this won’t eventually end badly, because it will.
And that’s fine. Saban won a natty in Year 3. Les won one in Year 3. Coach O won his in Year 3. And Brian Kelly almost pulled it off in Year 3 with Jayden—he just couldn’t field a defense.
We don’t need Kiffin for a decade. We just need him for 3 to 5 years. If he wins a national title and stays, great. If he wins a national title and then burns the place down on the way out, honestly... I’m good with that too.

Agreed. Glad we got Lane but his only similarity to Saban is that he is a very gifted football coach. Saban was very disciplined and stable, 2 traits that Lane doesn’t have.

I think alot of people see the Saban parallel as a guy who left one SEC rival for another (although Saban did it indirectly). But I don't think anyone really expects Kiffin to be at LSU for 17 years or win 6 NCs. However, if he's here for 8 years and wins 2 NCs he'll be hailed as the best coach in LSU history.

That was well over decade ago dude. People change a ton over that span of time.
Will he be the greatest coach of all time? Maybe, maybe not. But to say hes a worse option than the last two coaches we've had is just not entirely true IMO.

Not asking him to be Saban. Just asking him to get us at least 1 and have us on a strong path forward whenever he inevitably decides to move on to something better.
