Yeah LSU basketball is such a complete mess this season, we need to bring back this idiot.

You must like 11-25 seasons. Because LSU is about to have another one.

It's still early. In the season. We will see come late February where they are.

As much as I'd love to see this is just isn't happening. That fat loser Woodward screwed LSU over so bad

Meh I know the competition has been terrible so far but this team is better than 11-25. Not saying they'll make the tournament but I don't see them being another 2 or 3 win SEC team

I say we add insult to injury in this conference and steal Rick Barnes from Tennessee

He’s not leaving a school where basketball is a top priority to come back to LSU where its 3rd fiddle behind football and baseball

That's part of the reason Woodward is no longer the AD.

The people who pushed Tate and Woodward out are the same people who quietly made a big push to bring Wade back to LSU last offseason. Tate and Woodward immediately said they would not even consider hiring him back. While it wasn't the only reason, that created a power struggle between some powerful donors/supporters and the administration. The donors/supporters won.

Those same people still like Wade and would love to have him back at LSU. Everyone likes to say he's at a "basketball school" and there is no chance he would ever consider returning to LSU. That's simply not true, for several reasons:

1. NC State has one of the most famous National Championship teams of all time. But aside from that, NC State's and LSU's basketball history is not all that dissimilar.

2. Wade's contract at NC State is not huge. McMahon is being paid more than Wade this season. While NC State would definitely step up to the plate to keep Wade, it's not like his current contract there would be an insurmountable hurdle.

3. Wade and his family have spent 7 of the last 8 years their lives in Louisiana. He knows the state and, more importantly, the well connected boosters. Were he to return to LSU he wouldn't have to go on a barnstorming tour like he did when he first got the LSU job to build a booster network. It's already built.

4. The prior admin who ousted him is gone. He would return under a familiar President and an AD who won't be an impediment.

5. Maybe the most important thing, the SEC is in MUCH better shape financially than the ACC. So much so that two of the biggest football brands in the league, Clemson and FSU, are desperate to get out. I suspect the financial gap between the Big 10/SEC and ACC/Big 12 will continue to grow. Money is now more important than ever, and the SEC is steadily outpacing the ACC

With the current administration Wade would have been back at LSU at the end of last season. There's no doubt about it. But timing is often everything. Now the pull to get him back here will be much tougher given it would be a MUCH bigger fight to pull him away from NC State than it would have been to get him from McNeese. Plus, firing Brian Kelly was not in the cards last spring. Now, the donors are having to spend a TON on football. I just don't know if they would have the stomach to fight a bidding war in basketball at the moment.

He's seen what Pearl did at Auburn. Oats is doing at Alabama. Barnes is doing at Tennessee. Golden is doing at Florida. Football is, and has long been the top priority at those schools. It doesn't bother Wade at all that football is king at LSU. In fact, it's a good thing because a great football program can raise all ships. LSU fans will support a great basketball program (see WBB). They just have to get one first.

Why leave the acc?

LSU is a football school and that wont change. We got pistol and Shaq, somehow. That's our legacy.

No championship, and never will.

If you think hes so good, lets see how many he pulls away from Duke, NC, and others.

60% chance he comes back. The only thing that may prevent it would be if he falls in love with Raleigh.
