Despite all the evidence to the contrary, starting with Thamel's Gameday report the Saturday before Thanksgiving to the article on CBS Sports' website that dropped today (discussing among other things Lane's really bad meeting with Florida AD Stricklin) and almost all credible reports in between from respected journalists, this UF writer is still living in the fantasyland that they were the favorites for Kiffin until the very last minute. It's just so sad.

They were the favorites until BK got fired and Verge was hired...

Kiffin would only leave for LSU. If LSU did not fire BK Lane would not have changed jobs.

They’ve hired a G5 coach for the second time in a row from our state, and the oblivious arrogance is still there. It eats them alive that we’re a simply better job

Stricklins fault for not firing Billy last year. Florida had no shot once verge came calling

Yea from what I understand from some of the BR media is Kiffin probably was seriously considering Florida at one point. But it definitely wasn’t until the last minute.

Based on that article it seems the writer said it stinks at how it went down. He seems to think the boosters/admin at Florida were lying at how much they were in it on the Kiffin sweepstakes once LSU entered the picture. I don't see what's wrong with what's written there. They're repeating what was said from media alongside what Florida thought was going down then saying it didn't make sense. They pretty much said their boosters and AD sucked while LSU killed them.

If they had a decent AD he may have chosen Florida.

This.

There was a New York Post article on it today.

If anyone other than Stricklin was the AD, we might’ve gotten him.

You probably would've lost out on him anyway. Kiffin contacted LSU immediately when BK got canned.

He has seen LSU for years that's why he trolled BK. He saw how much he was neglecting talent. He wanted the job in 2021. Once LSU came in he was going to LSU not Florida. Maybe he liked Florida until the sexier girlfriend entered the picture.

LSU's side never was concerned about losing Kiffin. That should tell you that Florida got Sexton'd.

Kiffin was never going to go to Florida, he's been waiting for LSU damn near a decade.

You've still learned nothing from this. You don't get what LSU wants. Ole Miss doesn't get what LSU wants. LSU gets what LSU wants.

Maybe it would be wise to learn this lesson, and stay out of cycles where LSU is hiring coaches, because you've tried two times, and both times you've ended up with the guy who we didn't want.

The second I saw Landry's TicToc before the Ole Miss game and she was in an LSU t-shirt, I knew the Lane train was about to pull into the station.

Very few programs didn't have to worry about LSU when LSU wants their coach

Verge is the MFKIN man

Stricklin is a bitch..

Who would you want to work for?

Like it or not if UF had the right AD this would have been a photo finish...

First, content aside, that’s a horrible piece of writing.

Second, some of these Florida fans are completely delusional. Someone should tell them about Occam’s razor.

Third, whether you choose to believe what’s been credibly reported on what went down, or this conspiracy theory horseshite, it still ends up at the feet of Stricklin. How that guy was allowed to hire yet another football coach is beyond me.
