What’s your go-to Christmas charity? Do you prefer donating money or gifts?
I used to really like Catholic Charities gift program for seniors and families but they went monetary donations only this year.

Find a good semi-local foster home/ranch/etc. and take on a child or three

I’m not Catholic but Catholic Charities is one of the best for distributing most of what you give
Pregnancy Crisis Centers are always wonderful to donate to
I like St. Jude’s
Food for the Hungry
World Vision
Lots of local Louisiana charities have many needs too

If you're in the New Orleans area the Volunteers of America have a Christmas wish program that matches you with a family or individual(s) you select and sends you their wish list. You package your purchases and bring to the VOA office on Canal Street. A very worthy Christmas charity and whatever you buy goes directly to who you choose. Check out A Christmas Wish at voasela.org

How would I find this?
At work we used to raise money for our elderly janitors’ families. But they’re no longer there.

I actually emailed the BR chapter of the VOA earlier today. Haven’t heard back though.

Wounded Warriors and St Jude are great options any time of the year.

Someone on here most know about such things in Louisiana. My sister is the head therapist for one in GA so that's our connection.
Quick google says Lighthouse Boys Ranch in Loranger may be of the same type, but no real idea about it or their needs, etc.

My organization has sent 321K to St Jude Children's Research Hospital this year. Our team of 100 is going to Memphis later this week to participate in the races on Saturday. Most are doing the half marathon and 5k. A few are running 26.2 though.

St. Jude
Servant sisters of Mary in NOLA (a personal one for me)
The above are basically the only places I will regularly donate to

PAWS Atlanta (I know it isn't a specific Christmas charity). You buy/send the actual items from Amazon to the organization. Hopefully, cuts down on the middle-man grift. Hopefully...

About 10 years ago I started looking within a mile or so of my house and found several families that were in need of things like a new refrigerator or washer machine - Someone lost a job, someone was sick. I found this out just talking to neighbors ( I know weird right)
I would drop gift cards in envelopes in the mail box with a short note - "heard you could use this - Merry Christmas"

We usually donate to our local food bank with food and potential monetary gifts.
Toys for Tots is also a good one here too.
