Why the hell should Cowher care? He walked away from a potential dynasty in Pittsburgh, left them high and dry, to be one of the worst talking heads in football.

I saw this, I’m almost positive a producer scripted that for them. This makes no sense. They want a narrative. By Wednesday, they’ll be on to the next thing.

If any one of Cowher's younger family called him asked if they should take another job promotion, I can't imagine him telling them they need to stay and make their current employer happy.

I agree with Cowher here. Ole Miss threw Kiffin a lifeline when his coaching career was in the dumps and he was relegated to FAU. If you want to leave for LSU....its all good....but why make an ultimatum on the assistants to be on the plane tommorrow or youre not welcome? Why not let them coach Ole Miss through the playoffs and then hire them after the season is done unless its all about you and youre an angry little bitch arse because they wouldnt let you stay as head coach during the playoffs. And that speaks volumes about he doesnt care about those Ole Miss players.

Those poor ol players are now professional athletes. Many of them in the millions in earnings. I’m supposed to feel sorry for them now? Nah. Very few fans want it the way it is but it is the way it is.

And how many of those players have been there for 4 years as this washed up bobble head claims.

People talk about Kiffin being born on 3rd, but Cowher was an assistant for 6 years before he got an NFL coaching gig, almost half of what Lane's time was before he got a head gig. Oh, and Cowher's dad also went to school with the Steelers owner. If Kiffin was born on 3rd, Cowher was born on home plate.

Kiffin said he didn't give any coaches an ultimatum and any decision they made was on their own. OM's AD probably told them the same thing he told Lane, if you plan on going there, you're leaving now.

Butt hurt Never Kiffers. Where have we heard that before? This is nothing new. Why all the selective outrage?

Grandpa Bill, just stop, "what about the player's he's had for 4 years" "he's gonna deplete the program" In the last three years Ole Miss has taken in (81) portal guys from other schools and (85) have entered the portal and left. Thats over 160 players. This isn't 1990s football bro. You sound clueless about how modern day college football worked at Ole Miss. Its year to year there, every year. And thats most places now.

Bill Cower never coached in College. So I guess in bill covers world you must stay at James Madison even if you get offered the job at Alabama.

I get that but the players had nothing to do with this. I said in another thread that its a business and Kiffin can do whatever he wants and Ole Miss fans need to get over it.....but why try and sabotage the program that has been so good to you for 6 years? Why try and force the assistants to leave just because your feelings are hurt they didnt let you coach the playoffs?

If you read Lane Kiffin's bio and watch his interview with Marty Smith, then you would never make a reckless and bitter response like this unless you are brain-dead.

Get a life!

Cowher makes a few good points in his defense. The NCAA is at fault. National signing day used to be in February. Now it’s around December 2nd to 5th. The portal is in early January. Hell, coaches in the playoffs can’t take a better job unless you do exactly what Kiffin did with how things are structured right now. Ole Miss is at fault to throwing around ultimatums. I don’t blame Kiffin for taking his key coaches with him. National signing day is only a few days away. It’s time to go to work. The NCAA needs to make some changes.
