Should've either suspended Kiffin immediately and began a coaching search or (smarter move) let Lane Kiffin coach OM as far as he can get them since it will probably be another century before OM gets this close to a Natty again

Yes, because that would've salvaged any kind of goodwill...

The only thing that would've done was get us Kiffin a little earlier.

This is what he should've done but, thankfully for us, he's an idiot.

I gonna predict that he gets great press and folks love him...

...until they lose in the 1st round of the playoffs. Then it gets tougher.

They screwed this whole thing up and then panic hired a guy that would not have been a candidate for a single open P4 job or a bunch of G5 ones.

They didn't even have to do it. They could have made him the interim and given themselves a tidy little out.

This time NEXT YEAR...that guys gonna be out of a job.

Carter is also too stupid or stubborn to admit OM likely isn’t winning the NC this year, with Kiffin or without.

He could have easily piled blame on Lane, which is trying to do anyway, by saying he wasn’t focused, didn’t prepare, etc, when they lost.

And if by some miracle they pulled it out, that’s an achievement that would have lasted forever. But he and the money behind him chose to be petty and deny Lane the opportunity, with no regard that they were denying themselves the school and fans the opportunity at the same time.

Way to go OM, way to go to, well, you know

Dude didn’t even conduct a search.

He should have just named Golding the interim and at least seen how that went before giving him the gig full-time

Or just get strung along but have a better back up plan than promoting a coordinator that probably couldn't get an AAC job.

If their plan was just to promote Golding after LK left, I don’t understand turning him loose. I guess they thought he might recruit against OM until the playoff run was over but they would get another transfer period after the playoffs and a second signing period. Seems like a bad call by OM.

Lane was leaving OM for LSU, UF, or the NFL

That much was obvious, OM still trying to woo him back was what got them into this disaster

If LSU had landed Sumrall I'd havd been very happy but had we landed Pete Golding I'd be getting liquored up

Golding as permanent HC was another stupid, panicky decision

Interim I can see, it gives them time to really shop around and see what's available, even if there are any NFL staff shakeups but just to jump in the big pool of stupid like this is very Ole Miss
