Usually being "the highest paid HC" (or one of the highest) is reserved for proven HC's who have won championships. Correct me if I'm wrong but Kiffin has won anything, besides a few games.

Drinkwitz just got 11 million a year from Missouri. Market changes. LSU had to pay lavishly to secure the biggest coaching name out there. Who cares what he gets paid? Kiffin will earn every penny here. He won’t be sitting on his arse, not communicating with coaches, and players, and trying to shoot 70’s on the golf course.

Timing and demand has alot to do with it. That and having a good agent.

The market will be reset each year. This is exactly how contracts are approached for professional sports as well.

According to Google ai, Kirby is the highest at $13M.

Lane is #2, if the $12.8M rumor is true.

Ryan Day is 3rd at $12.5M.

Saban was the highest paid coach when LSU lured him from Michigan State. People were shocked we paid him 1 million dollars a year.

It’s the market. Florida is paying Sumrall more than Bama paid Saban in 2007 when adjusted for inflation, and Saban had already won a title at that point. This is where we are.

Performance incentives will put him well north of $15M.

Anything less, he would still be at Ole Miss. Mission for LSU was “whatever it takes” to get him here.

He's like a decent quarterback in a draft that is thin on quarterbacks when several teams really need a quarterback.
