They are trying to keep Lane from poaching coaches and players. They have more football to play and are thinking about next year. This is the NIL world we live in. The way players move around, I’m guessing noncompetes in the NIL contracts are weak or nonexistent, so little protection for Ole Miss there. I’m in the corporate world and my noncompete is two years before I could pursue former client’s. Players don’t have the same restrictions.

If I’m Ole Miss, I’m not letting Lane near the players or coaches. From a business perspective it’s the right thing to do. If I was leaving for a competitor, I’m shown the door immediately with supervision and I have a strong noncompete in place.

I would like for him to coach his team out but frick it all. This is college football now. It’s like this until it’s not.

All these morons are saying how badly Ole Miss is handling this and it’s hilarious. They are totally screwed either way. Everyone saying they should have played nice is delusional. They wouldn’t be nice if they were in Ole Miss’s shoes. Hypocrites!

If Lane wants the players and coaches and they want to stay with Lane, Ole Miss can’t stop it.

No they cannot stop it. So why play nice. He’s taking whoever he wants that agrees to come along no matter what Ole Miss does.

Ole Miss didn't do this though. They sat on their hands.

They were in a tough spot. Optically it looks bad from a player/media perspective to send him off without letting him meet with the players. Plus, I’m guessing they were hoping if Ole Miss made the SECCG, maybe Kiffin would consider staying, or maybe Lane sent signals he was conflicted and they were trying to get him to stay. Who knows?

LK can poach players and coaches whether he continues to coach them or not.

They don't have to facilitate it, though.

Just let Lane coach it out. At this point next year is fricked anyway. No point in ruining this season and this team with GAs coaching the team.

Sounds like Ole Miss should have let him finish coaching the season

NCAA is the problem. Not Lane or Ole Miss. Quicker people see this, faster it will get fixed. Reason 1000x to go to power conferences and middle-finger NCAA as the little man they are now. All they do is frick everything up. Dissolve the NCAA.

Did you read the article you linked? The FTC ruling was reversed and appeal withdrawn.
