I haven't seen the replay yet, but it appeared that two LSU defenders were left standing looking at each other as the Okie receiver ran past them.
One really bad play from an otherwise extremely good defensive game.
Can't crucify BB for one misplay, which probably wasn't his doing anyway. I personally hope LK's deal included keeping our D staff basically intact.

Our safety decided to cover part of the field, where nobody was going.

Or more than likely, was doing what he was instructed to do

Seems like the Safety got lost in the eye candy and Perkins passed the WR off. Let's be honest even if Perk stayed with the WR it's a blown coverage.

Yea Perk could not have ran with that WR.

They put their best WR in the slot. We didn't have nickle package in which put linebacker on the slot. Safety should have rolled coverage to the field side not the boundary. Perk passes off the WR to cover the midfield he should have hade safety help

We didn't sub because they went tempo and we had no time to sub

They went hurry up at the exact perfect time. A couple good chunk plays and then boom. Unfortunately, that was all it took. We lost that game on offense, not defense. Again. Unfortunately.

What you shouldn't be understanding how a garbage qb like MVB is on the roster.

Perk was expecting either the safety or corner to cover deep. Safety went to other side of field and corner stayed shallow. Based upon the way the corner reacted I would suspect it was his bad. But hard to know for sure. I would doubt perk had deep responsibilities but can’t rule it out completely.

He won’t be on the roster next year. Certainly it the starter.

My take was that Pickett missed the assignment and stayed in the flats instead of rolling into deep zone. Cooley and Perkins are much more experienced than Pickett so that was my line of thinking.

Pickett is great, not blaming him for the loss. The offense should have scored much more.

Classic miscommunication. One guy played zone and the other guy played man-man. See LSU 2020 defense for multiple examples

Agree 100%. People freaking out on one play are forgetting how many busted coverages we had 2 years ago. BK, and his offensive staff, was the let down this year.

Literally a second before the play the camera panned to Blake yelling out a call. Same kind of crap that happened to Stingley at bama his freshman year. looking at the fricking sideline when the ball is snapped smh.

Everytime we went zone yesterday we got burned. We were at our best all season playing man to man. Those are our best weapons on the team. Requires less communication and coaching.

Because the fix was in. The SEC had LSU tank so OU would be another SEC team in the playoffs

The. Safety rolled to the boundary instead of covering deep Perkins let the WR run deep where the safety was supposed to be. Missed coverage from a group that played very well until then. But it wouldn’t have mattered if the offense would have done its job. Two wasted trips inside the 10 yard line would have put lsu way ahead.

No high safety ever is taught to let someone get over the top.

The wr was passed off to him, but he had his eyes caught somewhere else and lost the streaking wide receiver.

Yup. 11 points, to be exact.

Looked to me it was cover 3. Pickett didn’t cover his deep 3rd. Perkins took the flat and so did DJ.

That's a very accurate breakdown.
