LSU has never been this excited about a coach coming in.

Think about it in terms of potential.

1. Saban. Some potiental seen at MSU, but not a sexy hire at the time.

2. Miles. Some potential at OSU, and a solid coaching perigee, but “could he be like Saban?” when he came to LSU. Not a sexy hire at the time.

3. Orgeron, great recruiter and some coaching potential show along the way, but “could he be like Saban and Miles?” when he came to LSU. Not a sexy hire at the time.

4. Kelly. At the time of hire, BK was the best POTENTIAL coaching hire in history. Most everyone thought his Achilles heel was being at Notre Dame. It was a sexy hire that most thought would lead to a national championship in just a few short years. Even still, “can he be like Saban, Miles, and Orgeron…” when he came in.

Now.

Kitten has to be the sexiest hire of all time for LSU. Most POTENTIAL of any incoming coach ever. Best coaching perigee. Biggest initial splash to recruiting. Proven coaching experience especially in the most recent years.

Has to be the biggest football coaching hire for LSU in history right?

I can’t think of anyone else off hand.

They successfully got their guy. They swung for the fences and closed the deal on who they targeted. Exceptional job by all involved!

It’s a sexy hire because he’s a younger ball of fire, not because of coaching experience and success

If this goes down yeah it’s by far the biggest/most exciting hire at the time ever.

Never made the playoffs, loses games he isn’t supposed to every year with talent equal to what he’ll have at LSU and burns every school he has ever been at.

Yeah good luck

I want every single mf in here that talked shite about Verge to apologize. From the minute he was hired it was “he sucks, he’ll never get the job done” “what a lazy hire” that dude BALLED OUT. I’m excited for LSU

There was a ton of excitement surrounding Bo Rein back in 1980, but it was a different time without all the social media buzz.

This is simply jealousy, and it’s laughable to say the least.

What exactly did Verge do…oh yeah, the same thing Woodward did. Write a humongous check to a guy that had proven he can’t win the big games. That’s not very hard. It is a lazy hire. Now if he would have done tons of research and found some young hungry coach that we got relatively cheap and that dude came in and balled out, then he would have done something.

WHO in college football fits that criteria? Aside from that tell me who is a better offensive mind that has proven he can take a bottom tier SEC school and turn them into a playoff team? On top of that who has produced better QBs, namely one that was stuck in D2 his entire college career? What about the funding? Taking a school that has literal legislative to HINDER school funding and contracts? Tell me.

He DID do the research. He found who the BOS wanted and he went and got it. stfu. Please.

I think he just meant Verge did what he was supposed to do. A “What you want? A cookie” scenario. And he’s not wrong, relax

It should also be stated that successfully displacing a coach with a top 10 team is very, very difficult. Look at all the coaches who DID sign extensions (Lea, Drink, Cignetti). Hell, it wouldn’t stun me if Sumrall stays at Tulane another year and waits for a better SEC opening. If this comes to fruition, Verge will have done an amazing job with no real leaks outside of the esteemed CC Sauces Club. Admirable.
