This is crazy for Kiffin...

Hate to break it to you, but......
If Kiffin takes the LSU job, Ole Miss will be playing in the playoff(s) with an interim coach.
The man who took a probation ridden Ole Miss program in 2020, has taken them on a 6 year journey to a place the program has never been before. In the last mile, he bails out on the program he built....
This is inconceivable, even for Kiffin.
Closest thing I could think of was Les Miles to Michigan 2007. On the morning of the SECCG, Kirk Herbstreit announces he has accepted the Michigan job. For Les, Michigan was holy grail, but it was inconceivable to walk out on a team full of future NFL stars on the eve of an SECCG. He had to withdraw..
Except that, on that morning, we were a 2 loss team, unlikely to make the Natty. Of course Pitt beat WVU and that got us in and we pasted Ohio State to win the Natty.
He has to stay at Ole Miss...we should not have put ourselves in this situation.....
This is the conundrum going forward....
When you fire your coach mid season, you need to find a full time replacement by Thanksgiving Sunday due to the early signing period. This is the weekend the regular season ends and more often than not the coach you want has a team in the playoff...
Why Kiffin...the same would apply to Joey McGuire, could have been with Sumral, could have been Dillingham last year...Could be with DeBoer and Penn State.
With playoffs going into late Jan, you have to have one National Singing day probably late Feb or early March.

I’m not reading all of that, but thank you

Not reading.
But congrats on the promotion or sorry for your loss.

He’s not bailing. He wants to coach them.
As he said, it’s not his choice.

I don’t think there will be an announcement today. I think kiffin will coach ole miss till they lose. We will wait on him. This is the right thing to do for everyone involved. We can wait.

He’s not coming here, I do think he was undecided going into late this week but LSU has zero momentum and Ole Miss just keeps gaining momentum. Literally have a shot at a sec championship now. Big win yesterday after a Thanksgiving he spent there around all his family. It makes zero sense to think he’s leaving that. I don’t want to be a part of the karma on the other end when it doesn’t work out honestly.

He doesn’t want to bail on them. Nick Saban is literally on Gameday trying to put public pressure on Ole Miss to let him coach out rest of season.

Ooooor that same coach could become the next Saban at a place like LSU. You may catch lightning in a bottle at Ole Miss, but with the new pod structure, it becomes significantly more difficult to win it all. LSU is one of the top 3 programs nationally when it comes to brand, talent pool, and resources. You don’t pass that up if you’re chasing legend status. And if you think Lane isn’t chasing it you’re a fool.

The College football schedule and season are the reason for this. Push signing day to Feb and portal to End of Jan and make it that Coaches can’t leave until season is over and all this is fixed.

He's been LSU for a while.
The amazing thing is the complete lack of self-awareness by LSU fans. Kiffin is literally on the precipice of a life-long coaching journey and he's willing to throw that away (truth be told, he's already destroyed it, stay or go). To think he wouldn't do that to LSU is the height of naiveté. I'm pretty sure Lane is still represented by Jimmy Sexton. The LSU frog has now hitched itself to the Kiffin/Sexton scorpion.
