How to invest $100k

I plan to invest $100k or so within a few days. This is some short term money and not part of my retirement. I am typically a buy and hold guy, but I have another use planned for the money in 9-12 months. A real estate project that is in planning stage. This money came from liquidating another investment and I want to keep it invested. About 75% of my 401k is invested in the s&p500 and the Russell1000, but I typically don't buy indexes in my "play" account. I want to go a different route for this $100k. Decided to get some opinions from the board. Here is what I am considering:
40k in a bitcoin etf.
40k in Broadcom
20k in Google
Not a crypto guy, and not interested in it as a commodity or currency. Have had good success in "falling knives" investing and like the chances of a decent return at these prices. I am late to the game, but not against profiting from crypto. The biggest name seems like a good fit, as well as going with an etf instead of actual bitcoin. Haven't researched etf options, any advice on a good choice is appreciated.
I have a large amount of Nvdia and know that Broadcom is another good AI play. I almost bought Broadcom a couple of times previously and want to do it here. I like it's short term outlook.
Google is probably my favorite stock not named Nvdia. I sold a significant amount of it a couple of years ago to buy a lake house. I feel naked not owning it directly.
Any thoughts?

Oh boy… how would you feel if it was only worth 75k in 9 months? If it doesn’t matter, go ahead. If it does, reconsider.

If you have another planned use in less than a year, find the highest yielding money market fund and park it there.
If you don't need it for 5+ years, 50% in BTC ETF and 25% in MAG7, 25% in SP500
Do not put it in bitcoin if you need it in 9-12 months and I say that as possibly the biggest bitcoin maxi on this board

Not sure why you took the time to type your comment.

Why do you say that bitcoin is not a good short term investment?
Maybe I wasn't clear, but not interested in putting this money in anything for 5 years. I am set on my long-term investments. And my medium-term investments. I use a 3 bucket approach to investing, and this money is my short-term bucket. This is my "play account". I am not interested in placing it in a money market.
I have a long and good track record as a buy and hold investor for the majority of my money. I invest in individual stocks in my play account. I have owned Mag7 in the past, but currently like the other choices I mentioned.

With that time frame I would go 50% precious metals and 50% semiconductors

Not financial advice but $GME GameStop is way undervalued.

That doesn't sound like investing. If you need the money in the year then you wouldn't be putting this money into equities. Find a high yield savings account.
Sounds like you want to gamble... It's your money so gamble.

Sounds like you are a buy and hold investor. The majority of my money is invested that way. There are other types. It is a very limited view to believe that is the only way.

The great thing about Bitcoin is that it's backed by ... wait, what is it backed by? Well whatever it is those assets have value. So, no risk there at all.
Number goes up!

I am not trying to convert anyone's beliefs. I basically agree with your sentiment. That doesn't mean it is wrong to play around with it and try to take some profit. This is my "play account". Every investment has it's risk/reward ratios and I am willing to dabble in it. I am not betting the farm on it.
I am hoping some experienced crypto investors weigh in on the timing. It seems very possible that at 90k, it could return to the 125k it was,a couple of months ago. It has a track record of doing just that and more.
Similarly, any thoughts on Broadcom for this time period? It feels like all the talk centers around Nvdia in this space, but Broadcom's charts are pretty impressive, also. Nvda is currently my single largest holding that is not an index, and I want another AI play.

Exactly! The post says OP wants to gamble, so go gamble on something. He shouldn’t get his panties in a bunch when people say he’s looking for a gamble instead of “investing”.

It’s been debated here pretty extensively in other threads. It’s just as likely (if not more so) that BTC goes sub 80 than above 120 the next year. Everyone has kind of pointed to retraction in the economy and a drop in BTC per a four year cycle. But if you know better, you do you and bet on black…I mean BTC.

Why get into Bitcoin and pay a management fee thru an ETF? Just buy Bitcoin. And the bucket strategy is not intermediate, long term and “play” term. If you want beta for a 9-12 month time frame then do what you’re saying but it’s pure speculation “gambling.”
Also, for your other buckets the S&P and Russell are fine but there also international and emerging markets.

ETF is simple. No storage.
You are correct on the bucket strategy. At least the one I have used forever. The 3rd bucket is short term. Never said different. Have you ever purchased bitcoin?

quote:I'm not sure anyone has a basis for telling you how to time the BTC market. Yes, it has a record of meteoric rise but it's based on FOMO and Trump getting the USA involved. You might make out like a bandit. You might lose a lot of money. It's way too scammy for me.

Yes, I’ve purchased a few different cryptocurrencies.
