He threw the pass in 07 to beat USC the night we played Florida

Poor Stanford can't afford an elite coach.

Just bring back David Shaw.

All you guys shitting on this just sit back and watch.
Stanford will be back in 2 years. Hiring Luck was genius and the money is there ready to improve the roster now.
Watch their model, more of a bottom to top approach.

Bold move hiring their OC from 2018-2022.
During his five years as OC, Stanford never finished in the top 50 of total offense or points, but did finish behind 100+ schools a couple of times.

Agreed, they’re about to spend some money. But the mouth breathers on here have zero clue on what’s been happening there.

Stanford has so much money man. Not just the endowment but disposable income.
They had just slowly fell off, PAC 10 dying all that. But Luck has been working his arse off and the kinda guy you can't say no to.
And California talent is still pretty good (LaCrosse has taken its toll).

People on here always talk about rich alumni and money. Stanford has Top 5 money in the US. It’s Ivy League rich as far as endowment and alumni. It goes to show you it’s not what you have, but what you are willing to spend. Stanford doesn’t give a damn about football.

Luck should have just named himself the head coach. Nobody would complain.

TBH we got our guy. Not the flashy hire or big name but when you look at this resume as QB coach the names are there.
Kevin Hogan - multiple years in the NFL
Davis Mills - Nice career backup who will get a starting job somewhere
Tanner McKee - Nice backup in Philly
In addition, KJ Costello was a fairly good QB in college and did well at Stanford and Miss St.
What was clear was that Stanford was caught behind the 8 ball when NIL and the transfer portal became a thing and now we're ready to step up to the plate.
Tavita is a Stanford guy so he knows what it takes to recruit here and what it takes to win here.
Hopefully this is as good of a hire as I hope it is.

You don't need a flashy hire you just need the right hire. LSU hired a flashy name and it didn't work out.
If the school is on board with NIL and bringing in transfers then there isn't any reason why Stanford can't be successful.
