Im not anti Lane, but have you considered: Jon Sumrall and Willie Fritz have both proven they can win with fewer resources, less funding, fewer “blue-chip” players, limited roster depth, and modest facilities Than Lane has. Willie has succeeded at every level, from junior college to Division I. Lane, on the other hand, struggled when he found himself in a comparable situation at FAU. Willie is doing it again at UH and Jon is winning at Tulane.

Fritz is hovering around .500 at UH.
Kiffin won at FAU. Good regular season record and 2 conference championships in 3 years. So so wrong.
You didn’t even take the time to check your terrible take.
This coming from someone who isn’t crazy about Lane at lsu.

It a lot easier to win in the Sunbelt and American conferences than in the SEC

And when Tulane played a good team they were steamrolled. Remember the Ole Miss score? Their schedule is weak.

Hiring a coach is not a science. Sometimes you just have to roll the dice. Just don't look like an arse when your hire fails and you are holding the receipts

It's a crapshoot when you go after a small school coach. Just look at Tom Herman and sun belt billy.

How about that Billy Napier guy?
He’s destined to be a top flight coach!

I don’t think he could have been the next Saban or anything ; but I really think he would have faired better at LSU than he did at UF. I got the feeling UF was completely out on him 3 games into his tenure.

Both are not ready for LSU.

Struggled at FAU? Didn’t he get the Ole Miss job because he succeeded there?
What’s this shite?
What’s this shite?

I see in your post history that you’re a big Willie Fritz fan.
Historically he’s about as likely to have mediocre or bad seasons as good seasons.
Let some other school take a Curley Hallman risk.

12-11 overall. 8-3 in year 2.

I’d take Fritz over Sumrall. I know he’s older but at least he’s somewhat proving it this year at Houston. Sumrall is giving me Napier vibes.

Ok, he’s been a head coach for 29 years and had 6 total losing seasons. 4 of those 6 were his first years at a school. 1 of those was in year 2 at a school. So he’s had 1 losing season outside of when he’s rebuilding a school’s program in year 1 or 2. In 2021 he went 2-10 and 2022 he went 12-2 at Tulane. That’s a good rebound season, lol. I’m not saying the guy is a great coach, but he is a solid coach. He’s definitely a more proven coach than Sumrall. His total record is 220-127 which is decent.
