BK in discussions with Penn State

My buddy that is a Penn State alum and is friends with boosters told me last night they are discussing their options, with one of them being Brian Kelly. He said that BK has a real shot for the Penn State job if he’s up for it and could be announced as soon as next weekend. Nothing confirmed, but he broke to me the James Franklin firing before anyone else reported it, so I do trust him.

I think a 6 year deal for about 54M fully guaranteed makes sense. Get it done!

Kelly is going to be highly sought after. They would be very lucky to have such a high quality, proven coach. Kenzel would be a good fit there as well.

Agent/lawyers trying to drum up Kelly-PennSt rumors so that BK keeps getting his LSU check.
Next will be MichiganSt… even though BK has no intention at all of coaching. But rest assured you’ll have article after article with “sources” linking him to jobs. And the source is his agent and lawyers, whose only objective is to satisfy the LSU contract and keep the LSU money coming in.

Trace, posting this on the Rant does not satisfy the contractual obligation for Kelly to look for work.
Nice try though to get the rumors started.
Better get your client sober and presentable.. he’s got some interviews he’ll need to do in the coming weeks or the direct deposits stop.

If Penn State is dumb enough to sign him, BK will look like an idiot for not taking the 30+ million from LSU.

It also makes sense considering LSU is likely about to hire a new head coach and probably needed to fire their current head coach before hiring a new one…

BK would be a good fit at Penn State. He knows the mid west and has recruiting channels in that area. The expectations at Penn State are also not as crazy as LSU. The schedule is a lot easier. There is an year where he can avoid Ohio State and Michigan and go un defeated. He rarely loses to unranked opponents.
He could easily make a career at Penn State.
It would take us off the hook. But we have shot ourselves in the foot by bad mouting him a lot. So Penn State might not hire him.

They had a few options:
The realtor cheating scandal
Greg brooks
Playing injured players and lying about it
It doesnt matter, they would’ve found something reasonable enough to tie it up in court for years to settle a reduced buyout
But you replied to the answer of why didnt they… LSU knew there was a possibility of brian kelly sitting on his arse. They werent going to release BK fully without an assurance he would look for employment… i.e. penn state type job
