I don't really care for cranberry sauce. I only serve myself some if the host made it from scratch, as an appreciation for their work, even if I don't like it. If it's canned, I pass.

Yes. Cranberry sauce and the green beans casserole made with 4 different types of topping should be removed from the menu for Tgiving. They suck, and everyone knows it.

Cranberry sauce goop in the can...yes it sucks and should disappear.

Cranberry salad made from fresh cranberries, orange zest, pee-cans, etc....not too bad.

Most peoples recipe for green bean casserole, smh.

GBC with cream of mushroom, green beans, layer of velveeta, over and over...oh hell yeah.

Green bean casserole with home made cream of mushroom and fried shallots is divine. My family puts them as their no 1 request every year. Sometimes I even make it during the week as meal

My mother had a good one with Gran Manier, all of the extended family loved it. I, alas, don't have the recipe. No cranberry sauce comes close that I've ever had.

I don't have an exact recipe but this is what I do in general.

Fry shallot in butter, add mushrooms. After they are cooked, I add floor and cook it. Slowly incorporate room temperature heavy cream to it to form the base sauce. I usually add Worcestershire, hot sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and salt if reqd. This is my base sauce.

Incorporate green beans and fried shallots or french fried onions. I use fried shallots from trader joe's. Bake it with fried shallots on top.

Nothing fancy but we love it

No matter how formal and gourmet or casual and relaxed the canned cranberry has to be there.

There’s just something about a jiggly tube of cranberry with the line marks sitting on a sterling silver or bone china tray that looks and tastes so good. And tastes as good off a Dixie plate.

Yes, but you can't have leftover Thanksgiving sandwiches without canned cranberry sauce.

Yes, I've not had that canned crap on my table in years. The food for that day is homemade from scratch, so no canned goop on the table.

A few years ago one of my guests brought homemade cranberry sauce and it was good but I don't like it enough to make it.

I like the canned and always have it. But someone brought homemade with cranberries last year and I discovered I liked it, too. So, both!

I agree completely. Have done this recipe myself several times. Have even finished it off in the smoker on occasion if I already had it fired up cooking something else.

I've never had one with that vile processed congealed atrocity. But I live the real America.
