Historically, a new coach gets a grace period to recruit his own guys and get the pieces in place. In the new NIL world, that process can move a lot faster. On top of that, Lane’s not a newcomer to the SEC so that should speed things up.

How quick does Lane get LSU back in the SEC title hunt? Is 3 years still needed or could he conceivably hit some good transfers and have them back next year?

There’s no lack of talent and we would supply him with a bevy of talent from jump. If he gets a QB year one, he probably goes 9-10 wins year one. Realistically, he should get 3-4 years to make the playoff.

Lane has never had weapons like he will here at WR and TE, though. The ceiling is high.

I think we can be really good next season. We have a lot of good pieces, but we have to fill a lot of holes through the portal. Probably 20-25 portal guys. OL and QB are the most important. If we fix those positions, I could see us making the playoff year 1.

Trey'dez Green
DJ Pickett
Harlem Berry
Whit Weeks
Nick Anderson
Dom Mckinley
Tamarcus Cooley
Caden Durham

You can build around these guys

I just want to see proof that the HC/staff/program is making the correct moves to put the team in contention and building a winning program that yields results.

There are always variables that may derail a season (ie injuries) but you can still tell if the program is being managed correctly.

Year 2 to make the playoffs. Winning the conference is easier said than done. Now a days it takes a really good team and luck, and a favorable schedule

Well, the last guy took over a program with 39 scholarship players that went 5-5 and 6-7 in back to back years prior, removed all staff (coaching, support, scouting, and management) except for one, pulled in a transfer QB who had 10 TDs to 10 ints in his last year at his prior school, started an OL with a center who had never played center before, two true freshman tackles, and a redshirt sophomore transfer guard from a group of 5 team, and went 10-4 year one, winning the West, beating Nick Saban, and playing in the SECCG.

I think the starting point is to win 2 more regular season games than whatever we end up with this year (that means we should go 9-3 at worst next year).

After that, I expect 10-2 or better 3 out of every 4 years. By year 5 LSU should be a household name in the playoffs. I expect a national championship within 6 years. Not just an appearance.

Let’s just defend Death Valley on Sept 5th from the imposter Tigers. Then build from there
