if we get kiffin, fine, but it would be more sensible if we hire a "hot" coordinator

hire someone for 7 million with incentives for 6 or so years - he's not rewarded for something he hasn't done yet.

Schumann isn’t a “hot” name, but if you like Dan Lanning, he’s had the exact same developmental path with Saban and Kirby. He’s likely been better prepared to step into a major SEC job than any of the G5 options.

I would take him over Sumrall and Golesh without a second thought. Not Dillingham, though.

So you want LSU to have one of the lowest paid head coaches in the SEC?

I’m more concerned about having the best head coach than what some rich donors agree to pay the head coach.

The only ones I know are “hot commodities” and all are risks.

Brian Hartline
Will Stein
Collin Klein
Greg Schumann
Blake Baker

UGA would love this. They are ready for him to move on

Umm aTm seems do be doing ok with the coach that is currently paid the least in the SEC!

For the record I don't support idea presented by OP; I'm all aboard the Lane Train!

Every coach is a risk.

Yes, it has worked out for A&M this year. Elko is making $7 million this year right behind Billy Napier at $7.47 million and just ahead of Sam Pittman at $6.82 and Hugh Freeze at $6.74.

The bottom 2 salaries in the SEC are Lebby at Miss State ($4.35 million) and Clark Lea at Vandy ($3.71 million).

Elko will be making $11 million next year making him the 2nd highest paid SEC coach until Lane gets his new contract.

At $7 million per year, LSU’s coach would be the 3rd lowest paid SEC coach next year. Not really what I’m hoping for but I guess if you can get the best coach available at that price then good.

My point is I only care about getting the best coach. That should be what’s most important.

I’d rather take Eric Morris and keep Baker.
