Who is asking this? No one actually thinks Ole Miss is a better job than LSU or even on the same level.

Not even Ole Miss fans.

LSU is the premier university in the state with a talent rich pool of high school football players. Ole Miss is located in the rural state of Mississippi that shares the stage with Miss. State and doesn’t have 25% of the HS talent that Louisiana produces. It’s not that hard to comprehend.

IMO, aside from Saban, the other championship coaches at LSU were not what I would call Rhodes Scholars. Kiffin is smart, and I feel, at his age, he could win multiple champi9nships at LSU vs at UM. LSU is a major brand. UM is not.

You actually would not believe how many snooty Ole Miss fans believe they are Superior. Any time they think they can rub it in they try. It’s funny!

We took the worst coach in Ole Miss history and won a national championship with him. Imagine what kind of run we can pull off with the best coach in Ole Miss’ history.

And it goes beyond wins, losses, recruiting, and financial support. What everyone seems to miss is the brand. The visibility that LSU provides. It is perhaps the top university in the country in recent history. I know there is a lot of self-hate from LSU fans, and we like to shite on BR, the school, fan support, etc whenever the going gets rough but you would be hard pressed to name 3 schools that have a better resume in terms of brand power than this:

LSU athletics as a whole produces more recent household names than anyone. Burrow, Daniels, Chase, Jefferson, Skenes, Dunne, Bregman, Reese, Nabors, OBJ - and I know I'm missing some.

You turn on ESPN and the SECN and you see (for better or worse) RC, Booger, Spears, and Peter Burns repping us. Shaq reps us whenever he can. Ole Miss has Eli and despite how great he is he still stands in his brother's shadow.

Has there been a TD celebration more copied than the Griddy? We don't even do Get the Gat anymore but 6 years later teams still do it to mock us when they beat us. The last time we did that was in the white house.

You look around college athletics and you see LSU getting rings in football, baseball, gymnastics, women's bball, T&F... Where's Ole Miss' visibility? Their only visibility, or their persona/swag is Lane Kiffin. Without him they are nothing.

And I'm not saying this to say Lane needs visibility. Its the kids he recruits that do. The players he tries to bring over in the portal do. Ole Miss played at Wake Forrest last year. Not long ago they had a recurring home and home with Memphis. Can you imagine LSU taking those games? No we play our major OOC games in LV, LA, Dallas, Houston, Atl, Lambeau... prime time to start the year. And while it may piss fans off that we start behind the 8 ball every year, it damn sure puts eyes on us. And the more eyes on us, the bigger the individual brand a player can have. The easier it is for young kids to see us on TV and plant seeds of playing in the purple and gold.

Kim Mulkey, like Lane, was a polarizing known quantity. When she teamed up with LSU her celebrity sky rocketed. Ed O was a known quantity, but at LSU he's become a darling of podcasts and other media. Who was Les Miles before LSU? Who was Will Wade before LSU? If Will Wade did the exact same things he was accused of at Ole Miss do you think Dicky V is losing his shite as much as he did? Do you think Yahoo is writing hit piece after hit piece? No. It's the combination of the individual and our brand.

It's like a baseball coach choosing between the Diamondbacks or Yankees. Yeah, the Dbacks were in the WS a couple of years ago. So you CAN win there. But who's taking that job over the Yanks?

Hopefully Kiffin is smart enough to realize this.

And we all know that decisions are usually made because of 1 single year.
