Why do UF fans still think they’re in the lead for Kiffin?

Absolutely elite levels of delusion.
My twitter feed is just nothing but Florida fans saying that it’s still done.
My buddy who is a UF grad swears that Kiffin is the guy and that they have him locked down.
Their media guys were so sure that it was a sure thing. Where does this all come from?
ETA: Also not saying that we are in the lead... They just seem so confident.

Because this board has had numerous nuggets
I’ve been on this board for 22 years. I’ve never seen quite the level of Detail and nuggets optimism followed by. It’s a done deal.
Followed up with With it’s done, but it’s not signed yada yada yada
As one poster said LSU has given him everything he’s asked for so it will not be from the lack of effort
At the end of the day, that’s all we can do and if it’s not good enough, then we go to Plan B
This is the real world. What else can you do?

This is exactly where I am with it. If you don't get him, it won't be for the lack of trying. The point of it is to shoot your shot. If you miss, just move on.

As true as the Kliff smoke you heard that's resulted in absolutely no one credible talking about him at all to this point?
Some Insiders who UF people apparently trust are saying they got a verbal on Wednesday and MOU in person at the Hammond, LA meeting on Thursday.
I haven't heard any of that personally so take that however you will.
My higher level contact is confident and the lower level guy is still MIA since UF started sending out gag orders.

Florida fans feel that way for the same reason LSU fans feel that way: Florida message boards are full of people making things up, just like this board is full of people making things up.
I think we can say with a fair level of probability that Lane is leaving OM. There is just no reason for him to put his players through this kind of ringer otherwise, and it is hard to imagine they will be able to offer him something to stay that they already haven't offered.
I think it's also fair to say that Lane has agreed to terms with one of the 2 suitors. As evidence I offer the fact that the last 36 hours have been pretty quiet all things considered.
Now, as to who he has agreed to, who knows. Do you really think that Joe Shmoe poster on the vaunted Coaching Changes board who knows John Doe who works as the official LSU team dog catcher who has told Joe that Lane is definitely coming has better sources than professionals like Dellinger or Thamel or a number of others who actually do this kind of thing for a living and get paid very well to do it?
The Florida boards are filled with Joe Shmoe's as well. So, ignore all the Shmoes and just let the process play out.
