The deal is believed to be for seven years and worth as much as $98 million, the source said, and includes a significant promise that would make LSU competitive in revenue sharing and NIL, the source said. A formal offer has not yet been made. Kiffin is expected to make a decision on his future after next Friday's Egg Bowl against rival Mississippi State, Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter said Friday.

A seven-year deal averaging $14 million per year would make Kiffin the highest-paid coach in college football. Georgia's Kirby Smart entered the 2025 season with an annual salary of $13.3 million. Brian Kelly, the former LSU coach, was fired during the fourth year of a 10-year, $95 million contract.

A decision has been made. The announcement of that decision will be after the egg bowl.

Lane is leaving Ole Miss and coming to LSU.

You’re now in the coping stage

Sure, he might go to Florida.
It doesn’t look like he will.

What's your theory on CBS releasing this story then?

As long as he is worth the money, so be it.

He needs to make the playoffs perenially and win at least one national championship.

I do worry that amount of money will breed complacency. Saban was singular because he had an endemic drive to be exceptional. It was not just his approach to coaching, it was his approach to life. Lesser men (like BK) lose urgency when they have secured the treasure hoard.

Journalists doing their jobs

There doesn’t have to be a conspiracy or leak behind everything

They are a news organization and they want clicks and views? That seems obvious.

Ok, and how would this journalist have this info that is otherwise not public? Leak from LSU, or Sexton putting it out there? Seems to be you think it's from LSU.

Every coach has a low base salary. Brian Kelly’s base salary was $400k per year

You seem to be of the opinion that a decision has not been made, and terms have not been previously agreed to
