Saban basically just said it should be fine for a coach to finish the season and leave and it not matter for playoff rankings

Nick says everyone should be thinking about the players
Players should be able to play for the coach the whole season
They shouldn't be punished by the committee for a coach leaving.
We need to take a better approach to what we do.
Compares to NFL how coaches can't leave in the season. We should may h the academic calendar to the athletic calendar. Fix the portal and signing dates to May instead of this early.
This is not a lane kiffin connundrum, this is a college football conundrum.

I don’t think Ole Miss is going to let this drag out. They don’t have many cards to play, but they can name an interim and tell Lane to get lost. I’ll admit that would take some guts.

Truth. He’s just the first one to really push the boundaries with the new calendar.
It doesn’t have to be that complicated.
End the season. Coaches are fired as always and teams not targeting playoff coaches are free to start hiring if they can.
Playoffs.
The primary coaching silly season happens.
Go back to the old National Signing Day, which is well after the Playoff and gives time for coaching changes to play out.
Put the portal window a few weeks after NSD. Allow students to sign, be under scholarship and attend Spring Practice, but not fully enroll in school until the Summer. This one change allows an easy fix to the Calendar.
Spring Practices come after the portal window.
