11-22 What we know and don’t know

1. LSU - Very confident they have him. Supposedly a verbal agreement in place.
2. Florida - Very confident they have him. Not just their fans, but their mods on their pay sites.
3. Ole Miss- They are convinced he’s gone. Their mods say it’s done and it’s LSU. But if you are Keith Carter why let him coach next week? What do you have to gain except turning the fans against yourself? Unless Kiffin somehow convinced him in that meeting yesterday there’s a sliver of hope that he does a double turn in a week and remains at Ole Miss.
4. If it’s done and it’s LSU-why hasn’t anyone broken it? Thamel, Dellenger, Low, it’s the story of the year in CFB. You know they want that scalp on their wall.
5. Why were the contract details leaked? Almost had to come from Sexton. Trying to create a bidding war between Fla and LSU over the next week? Trying to squeeze every last dime out of LSU?

I may have missed something, but what happened for everyone to start thinking UF was out of the race? Was it just the Sumrall meeting leak?
It seemed like it was a 3 horse race and then became a “he stays at Ole Miss or comes to LSU” situation.

I think he likely comes here, but to me with how it’s played out publicly if there was a “smokescreen” situation at this point it would end with him actually going to UF.

What i know is that LSU better have a backup plan ready to take action as soon as kiffin's decision is made, if he's not coming here. If they really put all of their eggs in the kiffin basket, that's just not good business. And going off his word or Sexton's isn't good enough for them to just sit on their hands and wait

I dont know why anyone thinks the pick is Florida at this point.

Wouldn't you want it that way if you were trying to grab a highly coveted coach? Let it play out very publicly everywhere, let everyone else play the PR game, then negotiate as quietly as you possibly can with a public figure in 2025?

What recourse do you have to not let him if he wants to finish the season? You’d have to fire him and buy him out

Because it’s the correct thing to do. Kiffin owes it to his team to finish the regular season. Jumping before the Egg Bowl shows a lack of integrity and commitment.

I graduated from lsu and live out of state now but return for games every year and spend a lot of time/money invested in LSU and LSU athletics. If we hire fricking drink, I’m out for a bit.

He will coach the egg bowl to give Ole Miss their best chance at beating Moss. State & clinch a playoff spot. If they play & win that game & lose without Lane, the playoff committee may leave Ole Miss out.
He will not be allowed to coach the postseason (if he leaves) because he will begin working for LSU/Florida immediately with recruiting and building his staff.
