with inaccurate info/sources (like this board -lol) and/or their opinion stated as fact but based on nothing - all to just get attention?

Who is going to attempt to create a narrative (true or not) just to keep a certain coach from a certain school?

Could it be Urban (working covertly to sabotage any deal between LSU and Kiffin to get UF back in the game)??

Surely Herbstreit doesn't want another "Miles to Michigan" embarrassment.

I'll predict Reese.

Saban?

Reese, 100%. It'll center around Ole Miss and how unfair all of this is and how it's somehow a lack of honor or respect for the game, while he's surrounded by people who cheated for everything they ever accomplished.

Reese is a cod, with Thamel a close second.

Everyone except Saban on that set.

They will squeal and cry about

How could a coach allow such a distraction to his team going to the playoffs and with a chance to win a NC?

Isn’t making the playoffs why coaches do this?

Blah blah

All the while ignoring the fact that no matter what, there are certain schools that are perceived above and below others.

Ole Miss will always be a small dish- Tier 2 school.

They are not on par with the big schools in the SEC- no matter what their fanbase thinks or says.

Lane was not looking to stay at OM for the rest of his career.

If he doesn’t make this one to LSU or UF, then when? He could be stuck at OM for at least 4-5 more years.

Bama for the time being is locked up
LSU would be as well
UF as well

I’m interested in seeing what Saban has to say about it on game day.

Not sure but I know we will have to deal with a week of all commentators saying he should stay. And IF he leaves, lots of pretend outrage!

This so beyond the scope of ESPN, I don't think FS really gives a shite, the SEC really isn't their purview. What's Davis and Meyer going to say ? Just parrot Red Elephant propaganda?

I don’t see Herbie piling on either, honestly. I’ve seen Herbie give LSU far more benefit of the doubt than LSU fans give him credit for.

They’ve already started to turn on Lane nationally, just wait when the announcement happens next week.

It’s a shitty situation for Ole Miss yes, but save the alligator tears for someone else. They’re already vetting a coach who has a real pathway for the playoffs as well.

The NFL has tampering rules. College does not. Now, certain contracts may have stipulations, but the onus would fall on the coach, not the pursuing school. LSU is not the "bad guy" here. Neither is Lane, really, but GameDay will treat him as such.

The CFP, early signing day, and portal schedules are such that rising coaches are left in a bad PR situation if listening to better offers. Can't wait until January.

Saban will largely avoided. Herbstreit will talk about it, but nothing beyond solid info. Reece will definitely stir, and McAfee will basically go to coaching changes board level heresay.
