Need to cool it. He has taken them over in a time that works to their advantage compared to previous coaches with both NIL and the transfer portal.

Let’s look at previous coaches at Ole Miss:

Houston Nutt had them with multiple 8 win seasons after being a disaster under O, then he flamed out.

Hugh Freeze got them to 10-3 and 9-4 in back to back years and then fired for other reasons.

Luke sucked hard then Kiffin came in, sucked and then the transfer portal kicked in.

They bought the best transfer class in 2024 and finished 10-3 missed the playoffs.

This year he has coached well but faced 2 good teams and a bunch of disasters plus a mid Tulane team.

He lucked out massively on the schedule this year.

Now, is he a very good coach? Sure. Is he some genius or great? No, not really. He’s benefiting from the times at a school desperate to win and despite his own attempts to cost his team games, they have managed to win.

Can he win an NC at LSU? Sure. Will he? I doubt it.

Unfortunately, I think the same would be true of any coach LSU had a realistic shot at landing. With no one really proven, it’s just a crapshoot as to who would actually pan out.

4 10 win seasons in 6 years with Kiffin.

4 10 win seasons in the previous 60 years.

Is he a good coach? Sure. Is he worth 15M/year? Hell no. Better value out there.

apparently there are fans butthurt that Kiffin (or any other candidate) didn't quit his current job and sign a deal, and hold a press conference as soon as he was contacted.

He’s going to win 50+ games over the last 5 years.

They haven’t reached that level of success since the 1960’s.

Your post is a complete fabrication of the truth.

Unless lsu is operating under a new salary cap, who cares about value?

You pay for championships. LSU has bags.

The rant is truly the pits of hell to question what Lane has done at Ole Miss of all schools.

Exactly who gives a shite about how much they pay the coach now? Clearly the money is there for it. Gotta spend to win this is pro football now

So the logical answer is to drastically overpay. LOL

First off ignore that for 40ish of those years, they only played 11 regular season games and not always went to a bowl even with 9 wins.

Second, kind of funny how Kiffins 10 win seasons line up well with the transfer portal and NIl changes in the game.

Again, using those numbers when everyone knows how much Ole Miss paid for transfers last year is just stupid without context.

Last I heard, none of those coaches were being gifted millions upon millions to buy players in the transfer portal, which has changed things entirely.

He’s a good to very good coach that got to Ole Miss at the right time. Hr still makes utterly stupid decisions at times that make absolutely no sense, but gets away with them more often now because of the bought and paid for talent.

Ole Miss is spending with the best of them in NIL, so he’s not going to get anything that much better at LSU. He is what he is.

I’ve never seen such a frenzy over a guy who’s never played for a Conf championship

Solid coach, but he ain’t worth all this foolishness.

Not butt hurt at all. I could care less if he signs now or in a week or after the playoffs. He is a good coach that LSU will cave way too much for that doesn’t deserve it. They are making the same stupid mistakes they made before but just from a different angle.

Keep ignoring the change in the times and reminds the last time you were able to outright buy an entire roster of seasoned transfers like Ole Miss and many teams are doing? You cannot compare success now to back then.
