Talk about humiliation

Suspend him, force him to resign, and move on

On what grounds would they suspend him?

Why? He's gonna win Friday and coach them into the playoffs. He's leveraging all this for more stuff from them.

Make up whatever phrase you want, but he’s trying to accept the LSU job and still coach Ole Miss.

You don't think they have talked about all this by now?

Ole miss would've wanted this done as soon as possible.
Did you not read the statement?

I don’t understand this mindset.

They are having a great run, why take the coach away and cost the players and fans a shot at history?

He has been there SIX years despite constant interest from other programs. Hes given them everything they’ve asked for and hasn’t done anything to bring shame onto the program.

They’re thankful for what he’s done and want to let him finish it out. Maybe the run makes him reconsider and he decides to stay.

Forcing his hand does them no good imo. Good for OM for wanting to get that elusive SEC Championship

You realize that's not going to happen though, right? Earlier this week, you were predicting it.

Now, you are hoping it happens so that it weakens their position with Kiffin.

In reality, Ole Miss would throw a parade if he decided to return. And, they will wait as long as there's a chance he returns.

The OP is giving advice to his "friend" to have some pride leave the girl he's with because she's cheating...while hoping it happens so that he can make a run at her.

Despite what he says, his post is about Kiffin and LSU...not Ole Miss and Kiffin.

What position does Ole Miss have?

They’ve had an extension on his desk for weeks. Whatever demands he has can/have been negotiated. It still isn’t signed.

He’s done there. Ole Miss is pathetic by allowing him to hang around.

Not really. Whether LSU announces Kiffin tomorrow or next Saturday doesn’t impact things at all.

Are you kidding?

Better than half the LSU posters on THIS board are vying to suck the guy’s dick on the odd chance he comes here. Old Miss isn’t gonna do shite to him.

They’d technically owe him a $36 million buyout which would be offset by his next job but still. If Lane leaves on his own he’d owe them $4 million. They’d have to come to an understanding. If he’s found to even be considering another job and he doesn’t inform them beforehand they could fire him for cause. That could be the out they both need. Neither side pays.

If Ole Miss really wanted to screw LSU they’d let him coach as long as he wants but they’d be hurting themselves as well. Or LSU could just pay his buyout for him to leave earlier.

I would say something has to be written into the contract to stop this insanity/ comedy whatever it is in future.

I'm not understanding your question. Do you mean what leverage?

ok. I'm not arguing that they are in a strong bargaining position...or that they will ultimately keep him...just that they would accept him with open arms if he did return.

ok...but they aren't going to end it themselves as long as there is a chance.

That’s what we want. Haha. Wouldn’t happen in a million years. If there’s a 1% chance he stays, they continue to grovel.
