He and LK split somewhat unceremoniously. Austin has been revered in football ops and LSU NIL efforts. Thomas has traveled with Kiffin to other destinations, but does LK keep him this time?

Lane was probably mad because Thomas bolted for LSU.
I think that now he will be able to forgive him for that.

He’ll have to use his high level filing cabinet skills elsewhere

Would love it if he stayed on as GM, he seems to be good at that role. Even if he leaves, the structure is in place so we should be ok. He kind of seems like he is wanting more of an on field role or at least to be more involved in gamedays.

He'll probably join Tx A& M, or Texas.

That bridge may have been burnt.

AT leaving Ole Miss probably wasn't personal between him and Lane, but it hurts when you lose a good employee. Especially when they are really good at what they do. I'm sure if Lane takes the job, and AT is as good as everyone says, it's water under the bridge.

I have a maybe unpopular thought/question on Austin Thomas

If he is supposed to be such a guru, why has he never been on staff for a successful team?

But we were told Austin would be part of the search committee

Man, you guys are oblivious

As if Kelly woke up one morning, decided the weather wasn’t good enough to play golf and his side piece was on the rag, so maybe I need to hire Austin Thomas to run my personnel management.

And while we’re at it, let’s get Petitto. Come to think of it, I could use Lance Guidry as a defensive analyst too.

All this offseason. And overnight, LSU is going to scrap together $54M to get rid of Kelly, not knowing a thing about the direction it’s going. So naive

No.
To coach LK, Austin Thomas lacks loyalty and will no be retained.

Kelly didn’t hire Thomas. Woodward brought him in because of the roster management problems.

No shite

He had nothing to do with any of those hires

What do they all have in common?

His title is Sr. Associate AD / Football Administration. If you look at the staff listings, he shows up twice, both under football and the Office of the Athletics Director, so he may not report to the head coach but instead to the AD.

But I do not know how that all really works, so

Maybe one of you guys has some insight.

Austin Thomas may be the most overrated CFB employee of all time. The guy has proven almost nothing to justify all the high praise he gets.
