Or does he ride out rest of season/playoffs. What’s your take?

I think if he is officially announced as LSU HC he’s done with OM, if that’s this weekend. He won’t coach egg bowl

I suspect that Ole Miss would let him coach the egg bowl, but not CFP. they won’t announce anything until after the final rankings are released to avoid getting dinged

Thats the million dollar question. In the end I think Ole Miss folds, and let's him coach this thing on out with a handshake deal with LSU in place. Thats what tomorrow's meeting is ab.

Rebels would be dumb to force him out and torpedo their best season in 70 years.

Ole Miss would not allow him to coach another game going forward if they’re aware he’s leaving, especially to a hated rival.

Lane would need the national guard on Oxford’s campus next year if he’s LSUs coach.

If I'm Ole Miss, and it's announced he will be the next HC at LSU or UF, I would let him coach the Egg Bowl and that's it.

I actually agree with this. Id demand metal detectors at all gates if OM doesn't already do that.

Mate, would LK be LSUs most fashion conscious coach ever?

IMO thats a huge step towards losing the Egg Bowl. Having a sentimental farewell with all the drama is a recipe for DISASTER.

Youd want him gone and youd want that extra chip on your players shoulders. Youd also want the dry run for the new staff in advance of the playoffs.

Yes. It shouldn't be if Ole Miss was smart.

I actually like Blake Baker's on field attire more than Lane's but Lane would be the coolest HFC in school history, yes. I like his attitude and demeanour more than his style. My main criticism is he still wears shorts with a 7" (or longer) inseam and he still wears khakis instead of joggers on the sidelines. Boomer AF.

When he dresses up he looks great.

Kiffin will be announced as head coach probably tomorrow and an interim coach will take his place. 15 million a year contract and $30 million NIL money will get him here per my sources.

We would throw ketchup and pingpong balls. It's a nice change from mustard and golf balls.

Kiffin before and after the game will be telling all Ole Miss commits he's going to LSU next year

Letting him coach hurts Ole miss

Everyone would be pissed. No way they allow him to coach if he’s announced tomorrow or Saturday. If he’s announced as the next coach of LSU the only thing they’ll let him do is clean out his office.

If he's signed an agreement with another school, it's a conflict of interest to allow him to keep coaching to begin with. This is true in many white collar professions - if you tell HR you've taken a job at a direct competitor, they will usually terminate you either immediately or ASAP following perceived necessary handoff. They don't let you linger for 2 weeks or anything for everyone's best interest. What happens if he coaches (assume he doesn't do anything nefarious) and OM just loses? Legal insanity

If he's not going to be around for the playoffs, it's arguably better to get the interim staff in there now, because there are no tune-ups. If that staff can't get the job done to State and they miss out, they aren't getting it done against any playoff teams

It would be the most toxic environment ever if everyone knew it was his last game. The players would be on edge (and potentially belligerent), staff would be distracted wondering about their futures, fans would be all kinds of insane, Starkville would be smelling blood...just completely untenable

I would want his play calling ability to make sure I get the win and guarantee playoffs. If they lose the Egg Bowl, they could be on the outside looking in at the playoffs.
