How quickly can a new coach fix our worst position group?

Are the pieces there? They were all 4 and 5 stars.

It’s clearly a top priority for any new coach coming in.

Lack of coaching and scheme have to be the problem.. These 4/5 star players didn't just magically lose their talent.

If anyone knows how bad our OL has been: it's Lane Kiffin.

The OL roster currently shows 6 freshmen, 4 sophomores, 2 Juniors and 1 Senior. This points to quality depth issues possibly from 2021 and 2022 and catch up recruiting the last 2 years. Basically LSU needs in depth recruiting and must keep that same depth. The portal needs to be used to shore up depth/quality issues.

Strength & Conditioning plus good fundamentals will cure a lot of it.

Finding what they do best can go a long way. One on one pass-pro and trap blocking, or zone blocking for that matter appears to be the areas of needed work.

I absolutely refuse to believe it's a talent issue on the o-line. It's just not.

So whatever the percentage it is scheme vs. Davis I do think it's a combination and both have combined to dumb down performance to a significant degree beyond actual talent and ability on hand.

Nuss could not run our scheme, as poor as it is, with any effectiveness

Yes it was Arkansas, but we did better with more designed runs and some pullers. This is the same group that got blown up by Tech, so a slight change in scheme and personnel yielded at least some semblance of a rush game.

Part of the issue is playing your best players

For example why after 6,7,8,9 games do they still feel the need to play Weston Davis is beyond anyone. He's been the worst starting offensive linemen here the last decade easily, and thats saying something because last year Chester and Mubenga were a special kind of bad. Harder to blame Mubenga situation since he replaced a guy who got hurt at least, so what's Weston Davis' deal being a starter out the gate and hardly benched this season due to poor play? I get Tyree is hurt and Ory took over LT that last game but why cant we try other folks at RT exactly? Why is Bo Bordelon here 4 seasons in if he cant play on this dogshit OL with a hurt starter on it? Just because dad played here and little bro is here? Can he play or not, if he cant find someone better.

no. requires major overhaul. Some young can stay and develop hopefully, but some have to go down the road.

If you bring back Tyree, Ory, Solomon Thomas, Curne (@ G), Echols, that’s not a terrible place to be before we touch the portal.

The 4 and 5 star O linemen never had to learn technique. They were bigger and stronger than the opponents in high school. BD can recruit but can’t coach, so they never improved at LSU when the competition did.

Not running RPO on every call has helped already. MVB had time last game (granted it was against the worst rush in the SEC)

consistent, and I do mean consistent, pressure with 3 man fronts and few blitzes... 2 years in a row. WITH a RB/TE staying in for max protect taking away an outlet to sneak under coverage when they drop 8 in a zone.

yep. fundamentals are terrible and the S&C isn't good enough to make up for it.
