Does LSU/OM/UF current rosters play into Lane’s decision?

Especially at QB. Which if that is the case I would say none of the possible returning starters for next year really trump the other.
LSU will possibly have Michael Van Buren, Ole Miss, possibly Austin Simmons, and of course DJ Lagway at Florida.
Lagway has looked good at times and others a complete train wreck.
I think even Laine realizes Simmons is not what he thought he might be originally when the season started hence why he never got his job back from Trinidad.
As of now we’re not 100% sure what we have in Van Buren because let’s face it, his one start was against a horrible Arkansas defense so I’m not ready to anoint him next year starter.

I don't know if it is much of a factor or not. But Ole Miss has very few starters who we definitely lose to graduation. We have some draft eligible juniors who may or may not go to the draft. And Chambliss is theoretically out of time but has applied for a RS for his first year where he only played in 4 games so he could be back.

Most of our playmakers on both sides of the ball are either sophomores or juniors.

Chambliss would be a fool to stay with how QB needy the NFL is. This is also a weak class so he would be a 2nd rounder at worst

That's a good point. Has he done enough to grab serious NFL attention? I personally think so. But he hasn't thrown many deep balls. His overall arm strength and velocity may not be up to NFL standards. But I don't know what metrics those guys are making decisions on.

I don't think it plays into it much at all. Knowing the NIL budget and the which school gives you the best recruits in that state.
LSU is the only big fish in the state and all those kids growup LSU fans. Saban knew this and built a wall around the state and knew he could have a winning team by keep the top recruits in the state. We still saw Saban at Bama coming in and poaching top guys.
So I think for recruits and guys that are in the portal from this state could be easy pickings for Lane.

Doubtful. With nil/portal you can bring in an all new roster. If it’s Kiffin he’s probably bringing on of his QB’s with him.

Why does he have to apply if he only played 4 games that year?… was the rule in D2 different?

Honestly dont know. That's just msg board chatter. I think all RS you must technically apply for. And maybe he never applied for the year where he played 4 games. Genuinely don't know the details

Chambliss is maybe 5'10 in shoes. Don't think he's an NFL prospect.

This is what people seem to overlook. He can bring just about anyone he wants from UM with him.
