"When he was arrested, he said, 'I'm ICE, boys,'" Hodges told reporters on Tuesday.

quote:

An employee of the Department of Homeland Security was among 16 men arrested last week in a sex trafficking operation in Minnesota looking to catch suspects allegedly soliciting sex from minors. Alexander Steven Back, 41, was arrested in the multiagency sting dubbed "Operation Creep," according to Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges.

The men were arrested under suspicion of trying to solicit sex from someone they believed to be a 17-year-old girl.

quote:

Hodges explained that the operation involved officers monitoring websites and apps that are allegedly used to purchase sex from trafficked individuals.

“If you want to purchase sex from a trafficked person, you would call a number or go on the website,” Hodges said. “That website would get answered by a person in a different country, that person in a different country would call the handler here and arrange for the meeting with the sex worker.”

It’s a “sophisticated” process that can be difficult to bust, Hodges said. The 16 men arrested were engaged in conversations with a police “decoy” and were arrested when they arrived at a hotel to meet with the person they believed to be an underage girl..

That is awful.

So many layers of depravity... sex with minors, sex with trafficked minors, sex with trafficked minors while being ICE.

He should get a hefty enhancement for doing that as an ICE Officer.

I'll need to go read, but first thing I wondered is if he is a newer agent, hired during the push for a serious increase in force.

He was not a Leo for ice

A spokesperson for ICE told NBC News on Wednesday that Back was hired in 2022 as an auditor for I-9 forms, or employment eligibility verification forms. Back was not a law enforcement officer with the agency, the spokesperson added.

hope his fellow ICE (or former) officers take him 'back behind the frac tanks' before processing him.

I'm not gonna buy any 'undercover' excuses either. The same or better intel can be gathered by means other than soliciting a 16 yr. old.

Check this out... not about this dude, but an earlier raid that netted a state senator.

quote:

The operation this month in Bloomington is similar to a sting in March in which 14 men were arrested, including former Republican state Sen. Justin Eichorn.

Eichorn, 41, who resigned from the Minnesota Legislature after his arrest, was charged federally along with several other men arrested in the earlier sting and has pleaded not guilty.

The federal charge of attempted enticement of a minor carries a 10-year mandatory minimum prison sentence while the equivalent state charge carries a five-year maximum sentence.

Eichorn has argued that the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s Office has singled him out because he was a public official, but federal prosecutors refute that allegation.

Is it just me, or SHOULD people that are government officials that do this crap be definitely "singled out"?? I think they should be absolutely singled out and have their charges enhanced for the abuse of their position.

Maybe I am stupid, but how in the hell are "apps that are allegedly used to purchase sex from trafficked individuals" legal and allowed to operate?
