Yes, this subject needs a dedicated thread.

In response to all the posters defending Baton Rouge and the campus as a selling point, I direct you to an 8 pg thread on The OT that directly speaks to how embarrassed LSU alums are of the current state of the campus and how ghetto and seemingly dangerous it has become. Countless alums won't allow their kids to attend LSU.

Is LSU really as ghetto as it seems in videos?

Anyone that has been in BTR for a while knows what areas to stay away from. Baton Rouge certainly has some.

Campus itself is certainly not an area to stay away from…. But not too far from campus (on one side) certainly is

BTR is no less safe than any other city if you avoid the bad spots, which is easy to do.

No disrespect to Florida and Gainesville, as I enjoy my trips to Gainesville, but I’m pretty sure Gainesville ranks #1 in college crime cities per capita

quote:

Gainesville, Florida, is ranked as the college city with the most crime per capita, according to recent studies that analyze crime data for college towns. It has a reported crime rate of 179 crimes per 10,000 residents, which places it at the top of several "most dangerous college towns" lists.

Ironic story given this thread… and I’m not lying…the only crime that has been committed against me in my entire life was in Gainesville (car broken into while out at a bar night before LSU Florida game)

This is a coaching changes board. Go to the SECOT. Can we finally quarantine these idiots to their own board?

Says who? The guy whose football team has been an afterthought since their last real coach faked a heat attack to get out of there. That’s who.

Gainesville sucks too. Agreed.

My point is that LSU alums have already addressed the issue.

Born in '84, grew up in Denham, went to LSU straight from high school and got bachelor's and masters back to back living much of it on campus.

I feel like it wasn't bad back in the 90s and early 2000s so maybe it's just nostalgia and "old man" syndrome, but every time I travel back to Baton Rouge all I can think of is how much of a shithole it is.

The campus has degraded but it's not THAT bad. Baton Rouge on the other hand is fricking Mogadishu level shittiness.

LSU is one of the most unique brands in all of sports.

I think the state is the most historical, culturally rich and interesting.

You've got to address the campus decay.

What’s there to address either way? Going to go out on a limb and say whoever LSU hires won’t be living in the projects of Sherwood.

Have fun with Sun Belt Sumrall.
