What's your opinion on best places to stay for a total of 5 days with 3 days skiing?

Flying from MSY or LFT
Ski-in / Ski-out
Can rent a vehicle to get to resort.
Would like a ski town with restaurants and things to do in evening, preferably walking town.
2 adults, 2 kids 10 years and younger.
Rather recommendations besides Breck, Keystone, Red River. (we've been multiple times to each)

Steamboat is great for all of this. Easy shuttle service that will take you from the condos near the lifts to town.

March is always tricky. I’d really wait to book to see where the snow falls this winter.
In past years when the kids were on spring break we tried to go farther north the later in the season, but that still depends on weather.
IMO Jackson Hole has the best late season skiing. I’ve really enjoyed Sun Valley in late March but the conditions can get slushy and icy quickly. Still love the resort at Sun Valley that time of year.

One place people forget for late season is Mammoth Mtn Ca. They always have snow until May and many years out into June

Is it? What is tricky about it? My favorite month at the resorts is March. It always has storms rolling through and usually we are past the really cold weather. The entire mountain is open everywhere. It's not late April or May. Everywhere that was good in January and February is good in March.

Depends on when in March, Steamboat is lower elevation and Jackson gets baked by the sun. I'm not sure I would pick either in late March.

Based on the “ski town” criterion with wife & kids and wanting ski in/out, and having done Breck:
1. Park City
2. Steamboat
Both have good towns & adequate ski-in/out options. Park City is lower elevation and easier to get to, but Steamboat is sometimes more reliable snow.

I lived in Steamboat for the whole month of April and it dumped snow damn near every other day. You never know what you're gonna get but it's not like there won't be any snow on the ground. The whole town is great regardless!
