1. Lane leaves

2. Followed by a questionable performance and potentially a loss in the Egg Bowl as the team is distracted/un-motivated

3. Committee says "frick you, you don't have a coach anymore" and keeps them out of the playoff, citing the FSU situation as a precedent

What an absolute two week collapse that would be.

They are 100% out of the playoffs if Lane is gone and they lose the egg bowl. Question is whether those things happen

Honestly, as much as I want Lane and hate OM, I would feel genuinely sorry for them if that happened.

Cherry on top would be Florida hiring Sumrall in the aftermath

Lane has max motivation to win the game - if they lose to MSU the college football world will put it squarely at Lane's feet for causing the distraction.

Not nearly as sweet as the Florida melt when he comes here. That school is the fricking jortist.

It would be like a booster shot of hate that was inculcated by Halloween night, Billy Cannon, Bert Jones and Brad Davis.

I think Ole Miss might get left out if they lose next week and Lane still stays.

A loss to this shitty State team would look worse than just about any other one when compared to other 2 loss teams. Recency effect also can't be slept on.

That said, I have no confidence we can get it done after Lebby named Shapen the starter.

It's honestly the most attractive thing about hiring him
