Another Mickey failure. Why did he spend money on this bum?

well if both sides agreed, what was the cap consolidation prize for the saints to release cooks? some glimmer of good news there.

This was one of the most retarded fa signings I can think of. Paid him a decent amount of money on top of it.

Saints are going no where fast with this idiot running our team.

Nick Underhill
@nick_underhill
Brandin Cooks renegotiated his contract down to facilitate his release, according to a source.

like i said, the "mutual" part had to mean something for us.

Best for both sides.
He gets a shot to latch on with a contender and Saints recoup $ and can play develop younger players.

They didn't even draft a wide receiver most likely because this dude was on the team only for them to cut him now. BRILLIANT! The saints REALLY don't have wide outs now.

As others pointed out, the cap hit will be TBD due to the restructure; but to document to look back on, for those that are interested in that sort of thing.

$4.8M signing bonus, already paid. Can they recollect any of this?

2025 base salary - $1.26M fully guaranteed. Played 10 games, so earned $741k. Potential to save $519k if Cooks waived guarantees
2025 roster bonus - up to $500k based on games played, assumed savings of $205k

2026 base salary - $5.94M with $1.69M guaranteed. Potential to save on guarantee

As I understand his contract, he currently has a dead cap hit of $519k for 2025 and $4.89M for 2026. All of this depends on my interpretation of OTC, and to be adjusted based on what Cooks is willing to forgo to go somewhere and get actual playing time and targets.

Donovan Peoples Jones making his triumphant return lol

More time for Velle and Tipton. Anybody worth signing now? Or promote from practice squad?

Outside of needing bodies, best to just roll with what we have and who knows the system. So, anyone from Philly's PS that was there last year may be fair game, otherwise just run with who we have

IMO, Cooks was washed up and Saints should have NEVER signed him to a 2yr $13M contract. 3 concussions in last 2 yrs. and his deep threat ability was never there. In 10 games, he caught 19 passes for 165 yds. (1.9 cpg and 16.5 ypg.) Another stupid ML signing.

Well there's the one good piece of news out of that I suppose

Other than that I was just going to have a redundant comment so good for that.
