Not long ago, I learned of Jack Del Rio sitting in a parked car.

Herman was a done deal.

Jimbo was a done deal.

The Arnsparger/Spurrier debacle.

Joe Alleva’s “I am the search.”

There’s lots of good ones.

That douche was the worst. It’s amazing he stayed here as long as he did.

He was, until Texas A&M lost to Lesticles. Pretty sure that was a blessing.

Back in 86 after Arnsparger left a couple of different factions of the BOS were at Phil’s oyster house .In one room was Sam Ratigliano, who had coached in the pros, and in the other was SteveSpurrier HC on Duke .As most older fans know LSU ended up hiring Mike Archer.Steve Spurrier was hired at FLA by Arnsparger and the rest is history.

Had no clue he was considered for LSU. Not a bad stretch in Cleveland

And damn it. He hired a NC winning football coach and a BB coach that went to the sweet 16 and won the SEC.

I’ve never seen another bumbling idiot have his moves work out quite like he did at LSU.

If we go outside of LSU, you also need to include George O’Leary and the false resumé.

In another world Herbie doesn’t let tCat out of the bag, Saban comes home, and bama ends up with Jim Grobe or Michigan era Rich Rod.

Texas A&M 2015 was my last game as an LSU student. Was such a nice send off for Les Miles, crowd gave him his roses…was surreal walking back to a tailgate after the game and hearing the Facebook moms were on the brigade to keep him and Jindal was putting his foot down

Not exactly a coaching interview story but coaching search related. Just rambling

For me, it's 1993. LSU was in the 3rd year of Hallman and we stunk. Our record was 3-5, including a 58-3 loss to Florida and headed to Alabama as a 24-28 point underdog. Alabama was on a 31 game unbeaten streak (including ties).

The word on the street was, LSU was about to fire Hallman and hire Mack Brown. Brown was the OC or QB coach at LSU in 1982 and was a very well respected offensive mind back then. He spent a few years at Tulane and turned them around and was doing the same thing at UNC.

I was in Tuscaloosa to watch LSU pull off the biggest upset in the school's football history, in my opinion. Just shocking. I don't think this was ever confirmed by anyone, but I believe Joe Dean felt he couldn't fire Hallman after upsetting Alabama and had to give him one more year.

He fired Hallman after 1994 and Brown eventually took the job at Texas a few years later.

Compare & Contrast Joe Alleva and Joe Dean. (Scraping the botton of the Barrel) Dean hired Mike Archer over Mike Shanahan and Steve Spurrier! Alleva couldn't handle Trace Armstrong (Tom Herman's Agent) and ran away scared & crying to Shrimpy; didn't even attempt to interview anybody else.
