Footballscoop
Behind a paywall but story confirms LSU contacted Saban, but he didn’t want to hop back into coaching. Lane Kiffin is our next move…
If Kiffin doesn’t come, list is (In no particular order):
Eli Drinkwitz
Josh Heupel
Brent Key
Clark Lea

Article also mentions Verge, Rousse, AND Landry all on same page about making Kiffin the highest paid CFB coach in the country.

Bump
Man, I dont get why Lea is on these lists. Lea hasnt done anything and only found success last season after Jerry Kil came and brought Pavia. Hopefully just his agent wanting a pay raise…
My pick is Heupel if it’s not Lane

We would not be able to steal Heupel from UT.
Drink is a bad fit at LSU, doesn't have expertise on either side of the ball, and has not done well in big games. We've already been through that song and dance.
Lea is Pavia fools gold and at home (From Nashville, grew up Vandy fan, and played at Vandy)
Key is risky and not proven enough and at his alma mater.
I'd rather Dillingham or Golesh to any of those besides Heupel.

I’ll take Lincoln Riley over Eli, key and Lea.
What has Lea done without his current qb?

Not at the advice of Jimmy sexton who encouraged him to let the games begin with Lane to leverage his position first.
Then jimmy and nick can come back to LSU and say well if you were going to pay lane this much… saban is obviously worth a whole lot more than that.
It’s extortion is what it is, but it’s how the game is played.

Doing some quick research, I believe both Drinkwitz and Key are repped by Sexton/CAA. Would make sense why their names are being propped because Kiffin also repped by Sexton. Key was also working on an extension with GT for a while but it hasnt gone through it seems.

Heupel has had a bad year. I’d rather Lincoln

Eh, bad year after what Iamaleava pulled… I’d take Heupel over Riley 9/10 times. Heupel has shown he can build a program from scratch

Of that list, Heupel and Key are probably the least objectionable.
Lea just feels like Gerry Dinardo redux.

Josh Heupel or Kenny Dillingham.
