I would like opinions on best key lime pie in Baton Rouge. I want it for Thanksgiving. Restaurant or grocery store is fine. Thanks in advance!

Weirdly, Superior on Highland sells them whole for the holidays.

Have you tried it? I live in that neighborhood and recently saw the sign promoting it, but I've never been a fan of their food.

Not personally, but people have said it's good.
Honestly, key lime pie is so easy to make that most recipes are all the same. Only time you really see variations are when people use other things for the crust like Biscoff cookies.

Key lime pie is simply... eggs, key lime juice and condensed milk. It's an easy custard pie. Three key is using the right key lime juice.

Go to Rouse's and get key lime juice. The juice, egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk, and a graham cracker crust are all you need. You can even get fancy and add whipped cream and zest some lime over the pie. It's a short bake and will be ready 3-4 hours after you bake.

If you don't mind the drive, The Francis restaurant in St. Francisville. They cook it more like a casserole with a graham cracker crust, but it's simply amazing.

Too bad you aren’t in Metairie. Rumba carribbean restaurant makes a fantastic key lime. But it’s like $40 for whole. So easy to make. Walmart sells Nellie & Joes famous key lime juice.

Gotcha, I hadn't considered making it, but now I would be ashamed to pay good money for pre-made. You say the right juice is the key - another response mentioned Nellie & Joes. Is that the consensus opinion? Other juice recommendation? Thanks for your response.

That's what I use. They have a recipe on the bottle!

LA Lagniappe used to have a killer one...it's been a few years since I've been though. Key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts.

I didn't know you can get Nellie and Joes at walmart. That's a solid juice. Blonde Giraffe is my favorite but it's local to florida mostly.

Nellies was what my boss had mentioned when talking key lime pie this summer, so suggested it. Glad you use it with success. One day I’ll make one, too, with a pre made graham cracker crust.

Gambino’s has the best Lemon meringue pie I have ever had. And every thing else there is really good.
I would bet their key lime pie is legit as well.

If you use regular limes and a some lemon juice, no one can tell the difference between that and real Key limes. Key limes are a pain to juice and more expensive. Also uses ginger snaps for the crust. It is a great pie and super simple to make.
