For someone who hasn't been following the Epstein debacle

as closely as some of you, why doesn't Trump simply release the list? I've supported Trump for the last 10 years, and I'm losing faith. Talk some sense into me.

It's a good question and nobody knows. But the most likely answer is because Epstein was an intelligence agency asset for US/Israel and the people who are blackmailed are still in power.

Regardless if Trump is in the files or not, the media can now slow play each story coming out. Hell, the email that they’re using with Trump‘s name in it from a “redacted source” has been in the news almost a week now, even though the redacted name is someone who has already acknowledged that Trump was not involved.
It’s now turned into a midterm issue. The Dems will use this just like they used the shutdown as an issue for the November elections. People like Massie and Green just allowed it to be the midterm issue.

I figured its because people still in power on both sides of the coin are involved, and although that would be justice in holding them accountable, he may think its best for the country to not expose them. It would do more harm than good.
If Trump was really on the list, this card would have been played by the Dems long ago.
At this point I just want it released so we can move on to the next smokescreen attempt to undermine his presidency.

A court ruled that all of it couldn't be released to protect the victims, who were children at the time.
The democrats know this so they can say Trump is Epstein's best friend because there's no way to prove it wrong.

If true, he knew this as POTUS 2017-2021, and stated “release the files” in 2024. Why state that in 2024 when you knew it was a “hoax”?

Yes. Some people are not children. Some of us can sit back and look at the records of the last 5 Presidents and think “damn, he really has gotten alot done, and the alternatives in Washington would have us further down the other path.”
Yes, the Epstein stuff has been bad, but it hasnt been as bad of a problem as the 20 million illegals that have come over. There would STILL be illegals flooding into this country. DOGE never happens. NATO is still subsidized by the US. And on and on and on. Some of you have no perspective.
