Delusional Lane theory

It feels like the news over the past two weeks or so is that Florida has been hawking around the goal for a while now while Ole Miss fights these potential offers from UF / LSU. TONS of smoke from Florida insiders as well as discussions of ultimatums from Ole Miss - meanwhile the whole LSU storyline essentially boils down to "there's an offer" and "don't overthink it - we're TOTALLY trying here."
The most LSU smoke was really around the idea that Saban was given a number at some point (or Sexton gave LSU a number), but now we've moved on to Saban backchannelling with Lane and selling him on the Tiger dream (why he would waste time consulting for us I don't know).
Its a delusional take, but I'm going to chew on it for a bit this Sunday for the fun of it. All the above would suggest that Saban is more or so locked in and Sexton is only using LSU as a theoretical third party to keep the flame on Florida & OM and push their numbers up. Maybe the Florida search is just a little more leaky in regards to information, but the LSU insight is so vague for Lane ("he has an offer he might pick us") that it feels like we're not really involved in that hunt.
All in all - we're still riding

Difference between us and Florida is we can have a retard coach us and win a national title. If Lane must have to go there fine but we can put a retard in his spot and win at least one title

I think it’s certainly possible you’re right. Not probable, but possible.
There’s some weird stuff going on here involving Saban/Kiffin/Sexton.
I personally dont think it’s as fluid as one would expect and as coaching searches go. There’s a master plan here by someone.

Even the most recent sauce said "Lane has an offer but Florida has the edge and he might stay at OM". To me that sounds like its their battle and we're there for noise only

And whether y'all want to admit it or not Landry is right having one representative representing everybody is definitely a conflict of interest and gives too much power to one person

The question isn’t what it looks like, as much as if Sexton is ethically representing everyone with a sufficient Chinese wall…and yes, that’s what it’s technically called. He can rep everyone ethically and it look sticky, and if he’s following ethical protocol (questionable) there isn’t anything inherently wrong with it.

As an LSU fan who has grown up a few miles away, I'd do the job for $50,000 and fajitas once a week... and still get the same results by letting my coordinators make a name for themselves

I think there is a 45% chance he ends up at UF and a 35% chance he ends up at OM and a 20% he ends up at LSU and a 100% chance he gets a huge arse contract out of this wherever he ends up.
