Drink gets a substantially weird amount of hate from SEC fans. Just the thought of bringing him on as a coach sets a large segment of people into a rage.

He’s a damn good coach. Missouri is a complete afterthought program. An SEC bottom feeder that most SEC fans don’t even consider “an SEC school”. And yet…he’s winning there. He’s brought them from bad to respectable.

Yes, they stack wins against a lot of lower tier schools but…so what? That’s smart. It’s what LSU should be doing because it’s completely retarded in this era to schedule quality out of conference opponents. It benefits you exactly zero.

To be clear, he’s not one of my top choices personally but LSU could do worse.

So why do they hate him so much? Could it be because…

He looks like a fricking nerd?

He may be a “good” Coach. We need a GREAT Coach, He can keep his nerdy arse right where it is. Where I’m sure he’s very happy.

If he did better against good teams he could look like a 7 foot Tranny and we would like him.

Lane does? Saban did? If they were insurance salesmen you would not know the difference

If the 11th best program could beat the top SEC teams (the best teams in the country), then you’d be happy. Ok, got it. Dumbass

I’ve explained my position. He is the 11th highest coach in college football at 9 million a year. If he comes here he will want a huge top 5 contract and a big buyout. He isn’t worth that. We will be stuck with him for a few years especially after the Kelly debacle. If we are going to hire Drinkwitz I’d rather take a chance on an up and comer type coach we could get on a much better prove it type contract. If it doesn’t work out you can get out of it much easier. For example Eric Morris makes 1.4 million a year at North Texas. You could pay him less than half what Drinkwitz would make with a much smaller buyout. That’s just an example. It doesn’t have to be Morris. Hiring a coordinator(Smart, Day, Lanning) or young coach would take a lot of work and research. LSU typically likes to hire lazy and not do all that research so it wouldn’t surprise me to get Drinkwitz.

Are you aware that he’s at Missouri?

If Drink was prettier, some of these “guys” would love him.

Agree. I still don't want him. But it's weird that everyone wants kiffin bc of some perception that it's so hard to win at OM, when it's even harder to win at Missouri. The obsession with kiffin is irrational though

And no current sec coach has a more punchable face and demeanor than Kirby Smart.
I think he’s doing ok.

That’s gonna be the case regardless of who is hired.

Ehhhh good coach but he’s not the guy to lead a team to a championship. All those things considered putting up with his personality wouldn’t be worth it.

Yeah it's weird for this reason alone.

The money argument even tracks, too.

It makes no sense for people to be so hyped for Kiffin and dismiss Drink, when the arguments/criticisms are so similar.

But this kind of proves OP's point, b/c Kiff has built an aura in terms of public profile/persona.

If Drink had just spent more effort on hair styling and gotten contacts and avoided pictures like this:

people wouldn't hate him as much

It’s because he’s

1. 0-15 against SEC teams that finish with a winning record

2. He’s a weirdo

3. It would take 10+ million to hire him here

Franklin would have been better. Heupel IS better

This is the dumbest fricking reason to not want a coach. Almost all of these guys are weirdos.

Kiffin is an outlier because he's not as much of a weirdo so he seems relatable.

Saban, Miles, BK - all weirdos.
