Yesterday was the first day I didn’t see shite. Other than a huge turkey while walking in yesterday afternoon.

I know squirrels make a lot noise but damn these falling leaves everywhere.

You not gonna see anything on that lil plot unless it’s surrounded by oak trees dropping.

I just about turned my feeders off due to lack of action on the plots cause of all the acorns hitting the ground.

2 blue wings in the blind so far. A lot of high flying teal around and I’m deaf due to the guy on my right going, “BURR BURR BURR BURR” with a loud arse daisy cutter. I’m not even blowing my DR85, why bother. See he has a Singleton duke on his lanyard, hopefully he doesn’t grab that ear piercing instrument.

I’m on a ridge of hardwoods on an old logging road and the opposite side of the plot is a huge creek with hardwoods. Just had some does cross the logging road but no shot opportunity.

Back in the same boxstand with the old .270
REB jr killed one yesterday at my other stand so he snuck across the property line to hunt an old stand of ours for the first time in a couple years this morning.

Box stand over cut corn field

Endless does, a huge 6 and another really nice buck.

Passed on him because I couldn’t determine whether he had 4 on one side. Happened fast.

Ever get that feeling you should have gone to the other spot... Where is my jet pack?

Loup, what load and bullet do you run in that muzzleloader?

Yep, I’ve seen 5-6 does 600 yards away by another stand. I said to hell with it and walked over to the other stand. I’ll probably leave by 9:45 if nothing steps out.

Finished the morning with 3 blue wings and 5 black bellies. Everything was waaaayyyy up there except the flock of 20+ whistlers that we went to the plug and managed to drop 5. Heard decent shooting until 7am then few and far between. Other blind said they got 4 blue wings and a ringneck and headed back now. Opening day musta spooked em good?

82 gr (by weight) of Blackhorn 209 and 285 gr Fury custom bullets. Gotta run them through a die to size to the barrel. Used a chrono to find a node to get my charge weight. I got it shooting sub moa.

Yeah seeing you hit that one yesterday from 200+, I figured you did some work to get there. I definitely don't trust mine that far!

I have a scope that I can dial my holdover. The biggest thing that keeps me from shooting deer further than 250 is the wind. A 10 mph crosswind will push that big slow bullet a foot or so at 300. I aimed about at the diaphragm yesterday and hit dead center of the shoulder. The wind is always whipping up here.
