What are the benefits to being on the LSU Board of Supervisors?

Besides great tickets to post season games that they can most likely afford anyway, why would a successful business person want to serve on the BOS? Seems likes it’s more of a liability when things turn sour (like right now) and the rewards are minimal.
We all know why a Collis Temple would want to be on it-I don’t need that explained to me. I’m talking about the successful business person from another part of the state outside the capital region.

Kind of like being on the HOA board in your neighborhood.
Doesn’t really do shite but you get to say you are on it

They're all on it for the same reason

I grew up with a guy who did time on the BOS. While I probably agree with the notion that it’s all about prestige, etc, the fact that he accomplished the things he did to be considered to serve on it is a credit to him. He grew up poor, didn’t have a great home life but put himself through college and law school and has done extremely well.
My hat is off to him.

They are in charge of the most influential institution in the state of Louisiana which influences every single corner of this state is one of the largest employers, educated the workforce that they are hiring and is constantly involved in construction projects etc.
But yeah I have no idea why they would want to be involved

You can demand free medical care come to your house from LSU med school staff and then pretend that didn’t happen whenever the news asks why you did that.

Wealthy business dudes are often on multiple charitable boards. Could be that some highly productive, prolific people just happen to be civic minded and charitable. It also probably looks good on your bio and resume if you have bigger ambitions. Probably some bragging rights for your fellow wealthy peers/competitors too.

You put wealthy people on boards so they feel important and donate more money
