Lane's contract contained an automatic extension to 2031. It was triggered by the win over OU.

That's the automatic extension of his existing contract terms, you moron. People are saying he has a contract extension with a massive raise that has been sitting on his desk for weeks. That is the one that he'll sign if he decides to stay at OM.

Imagine trying to make a gotcha thread and not even understanding what you're posting about.

No it’s not dumbass. He can only get a four year deal. When he reaches seven wins it rolls over by one year.

He’s a fig Georgia fan, what do you expect.

Not going to lie this board is super entertaining is it like this every coaching search?
Posted on 11/14/25 at 4:35 pm to GeauxFish31
Can you imagine being that dumb?

Posted on 11/14/25 at 4:39 pm to New Money
Which gave him 9M/yr for an extra year. He has an extension for 13.5M that he hasn’t signed.

If LSU hasn't announced a coach by the 2nd week of December, you're gonna see the insanity go into overdrive.

Just imagine if UF and LSU both haven't announced at that time

Can you imagine LSU including a 7-win threshold for an auto extension in a coach’s contract? I don’t think they’d do that for 9 wins.
Different expectations, different standards.

if only mississippi law allowed this.

Not true. Kiffin’s contract is with the Ole Miss Athletic Foundation, not the university. This allows Ole Miss to circumvent the state law that caps contracts of public employees at four years.

As a business man you keep the pressure on to the end of the season. He wants to get as much as he can, putting one job against the other upping the ante every day.

Kiffin and Sexton are waiting and letting schools bid against each other for his services……

Ole Miss fans have said it’s 4 years with the university and 2 years with the AF. The AF adds an extra year at 7 wins automatically.
His buyout is also very, very low. Less than $4 mil.

This. The last time LSU was looking for a coach, this board went fully off the rails
