What is the rationale for not wanting the files released?

Not saying who is in it or not, it would have leaked before, etc put all of that aside.
What possible reason is there to be fighting tooth and nail to keep these things sealed? It’s not just a disregard of it, it’s actively working to keep them from the public.
Why? There may be a completely benign reason and I just haven’t heard it. And it would seem 100% of the people on here would want it released but that doesn’t seem to be the case either, why?

But in reality ive said from the beginning the reason the files are buried isn't because of protecting any one person in the files its more about protecting the various intelligence agencies from both the US and overseas that were involved

I think it's possible there is no way to release whatever list or files exist without implicating innocent people (many of them very powerful). So, Trump just doesn't want to deal with the mess and declares it all a hoax.

innocent people like Trump and RFK Jr who flew on Epsteins plane but had nothing to do with his criminal life are mentioned in those files.

I’m not saying they should or shouldn’t be released, but the files like Epstein emails which aren’t necessarily factually accurate (by intention or not), will be manipulated to fabricate misleading and untrue narratives.

Any release will be partial... and this not satisfactory to one side or the other.
The really juicy stuff will be court ordered sealed/redacted for victim rights, national security and ongoing investigations.
Congress critters will have more ability to view or speak among themselves of whatever content we aren't privy to and will rush to the tabloid media with insinuations and allegations that can't be proven or disproven.
It is a shite show.
Think back to Russia Russia Russia if you want any insight into how this is going to go down.

People are named that have never been charged with a crime. Are a lot of them guilty? Probably. But that's on the DOJ of years past

What I want to know is why do democrats care so much when they’re the same people who are perfectly fine with gay couples adopting kids to abuse them, they’re ok with trannys flashing kids and reading dirty books to them, they’re fine with late term abortions. It would bring down both parties and very powerful international political figures, celebrities, people with money.
Prince Andrew (or just Andrew now) already had his titles stripped and he has been named more than anyone else. Pervert.
The “list” would do that for even more and would shake up the entire world economy. If it wasn’t something huge, all would have been revealed. Both parties had their chance to do it and didn’t.
